SWI stock: DHS orders federal agencies to update SolarWinds Orion platform

 Here is the article.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has ordered all US federal agencies to update the SolarWinds Orion platform to the latest version by the end of business hours on December 31, 2020.

CISA's Supplemental Guidance to Emergency Directive 21-01 demands this from all agencies using Orion versions unaffected in the SolarWinds supply chain attack.

Yahoo -> Finance -> Conversation -> SWI stock

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has ordered all US federal agencies to update the SolarWinds Orion platform to the latest version by the end of business hours on December 31, 2020.- They won't stop the contract. That's why I am bullish in the SHORT term.

Forming a double bottom; good short term bullish indicator. I don't know if this stock is any longer a "long term" investible security, but could see $6-8 upside over 6 months in 2021. Just my opinion.

We still can't predict the impact of the security breach on revenue. If there's a significant hit, the stock can easily go down another 30%-50%. If on the other hand, the Q1-2021 results will not show significant decline, even if just a small decline, then the share will jump.

So - no, the news are not yet priced in because we don't really know the most important news: impact on revenue.

Investing Mistakes to Avoid in the Stock Market if You are a Beginner

 Here is the link.

  1. Do not buy stocks if the company will file bankruptcy;
  2. Do not buy stock over the counter, pink slip sheet -> delist; Stick to stocks with reputable on NYSE;
  3. Do not talk to internet chat group -> who knows the person behind the screen.
  4. Do not try to be a day trader -> buy and sell, day trader. Swing trade may be better
  5. Do not time the market - Do not have crystal balls - go up or down or sideways - Be a beginner - Systematic approach - average in - not very top - not very bottom - mix approach - average
  6. Pay attention to general market - overall market - during good times, stock market goes up; every one looks genius. You are up with 20%.
  7. Do not kick yourself, compare to your stock to general market. Do you outperform general market or not?
  8. Stock pays too good to be true dividend, and it is a problem. Dividend yield - 20% -

INTC equity research: Intel To Acquire SigOpt, An AI Hyperparameter Optimization Platform

 Here is the article.

Take my notes:

  1. Intel has confirmed that it is buying SigOpt Inc., an artificial intelligence startup developing software platforms to optimize AI models.

Intel has confirmed that it is buying SigOpt Inc., an artificial intelligence startup developing software platforms to optimize AI models. Several private firms and research groups such as OpenAI use these software platforms to boost their AI models’ performance. This platform uses a hyperparameter optimization method that improves model performance.

Developers say Hyperparameters are settings that determine how AI processes data. These settings include the number of artificial neurons in a model and how those neurons interact with each other. Hyperparameter optimization is the process of fine-tuning these settings to enhance the model’s performance.

A large number of setting combinations are possible for a broad AI, making the task time-consuming. In past approaches, hyperparameters were searched in a semi-randomized manner to find the optimal configuration. SigOpt employs a statistical method called Bayesian optimization that enables its platform to perform the process significantly. This platform can work with various AI types, including machine learning models and complex deep learning models. Through this platform, the developers can specify their AI’s property they need to improve and then create an optimization loop that fine-tunes it automatically. This platform also allows developers to regulate multiple properties simultaneously.

Using SigOpt’s platform, Intel will broaden its capability to help customers run AI models on its chips to achieve higher processing speeds. Intel says that SigOpt’s technology will be integrated across Intel’s AI hardware products.

In 2019, Intel’s AI solutions drive was reported to total over $3.8 billion. Intel is currently preparing the Xe series launch, its first graphic processing unit line in two decades, including AI-optimized chips. Intel Capital, its global investment organization, had committed a total of $132 million to 11 startups centered on AI translation services, chipset design, big data analytics, and health care automation. Intel Capital has also stated that it will be investing between $300 million and $500 million in AI centered startups with specific attention on intelligent edge devices and network transformation.

Millionaire in 7 years | Top 5 things I did / Investing / Early Retirement

 Here is the link.

Millionaire in 7 years | Top 5 things I did / Investing / Early Retirement 1. Saving take home pay You must save as much take home pay as possible. If you do not save, how can you grow your money? Saving in a 401k although I support this, it is not enough. It is best to have multiple buckets that you can draw from when you retire. 401k's are not accessible before a certain age unless you convert to a Roth IRA, hold for 5 years and then withdraw. Converting to a Roth should be done at a lower "earned" income level if possible. You need to save 60-70% if possible of your take home pay. If you are in a lower paying job (like most Americans), save as much as possible but look at reducing your expenses. Two income families can benefit by sharing common expenses which should make saving take home pay much easier. 2. Invest Investing is crucial to financial independence. If you do not invest, your money will lose value over time due to inflation. You may as well throw your money down the toilet. Bank accounts only pay less than a fraction of a percent. You need to invest into stocks, real-estate, or other sound investments. If you are looking for a place to get started, I suggest index funds like VTI and VOO. 3. Live frugal or minimalistic (within your means) If you are living pay check to pay check, you seriously need to reduce your expenses and/or debt. If you make a million dollars but spend a million dollars, you would be unable to save and invest. Reducing the things around your house and reducing unnecessary expenses will help free your mind and soul. 4. Delay gratification Delaying gratification is important as wants for most people outweigh their ability to afford those items. Put off as long as possible that BMW that you had your eye on. Drive your vehicle an extra 5+ years. Once you work so hard to save up the money by investing and having passive income from your investments, you will likely not want that new BMW any more. 5. Last but not least, Invest in yourself You are your biggest asset. You have the means necessary to achieve whatever you desire. If you want to become ultra successful and rich, you can do that. It takes hard work, dedication, and determination, however, in this country IT IS POSSIBLE. Just believe in yourself. Get an advanced degree or certifications in your area of expertise. Read books, watch Youtube videos. Surround yourself around successful people, watch and learn.

INTC stock: Intel Stock Getting Crushed! | Is INTC Stock A Buy? | Intel Earnings Analysis

 Here is the link.

Intel (INTC) stock is absolutely getting crushed! Q2 earnings and now Q3 earnings. But why? Is Intel a buy right now? In this video I go over the reasons why I am bullish on the stock going into Q4 and into 2021. I am still holding my 1000 shares in my TD Ameritrade account and 100 shares in my Dividend portfolio. The biggest reason this stock sold off this quarter was mostly due to the DCG EG segment where enterprise and government revenue dropped off by more than 47%. This was a complete surprise. That said, it looks like they have some tailwinds going into Q4 and into 2021. In addition, it also looks like they will make a decision on the 7nm chip issue. I'm bullish the stock and will likely buy some more in the dividend portfolio. I continue to play covered call options in my TD Ameritrade spec account as well. I hope Q4 is better news and gets treated by Wall Street better. This stock is insanely cheap right now IMO.

INTC equity research: Brian Krzanich, Intel Ex-CEO

I like to spend 10 minutes to read about wiki article.

Career[edit]

Intel[edit]

Krzanich began working as a process engineer at Intel's chip factory in New Mexico in 1982.[6][9][10] He became manager of a fabrication plant in Chandler, Arizona, in 1996, and later supervised assembly and testing facilities. He held management roles within Intel's manufacturing division,[11] managed a plant in Massachusetts,[5] and began overseeing the company's factories and supply chains in 2007.[6][9][12] Intel removed conflict minerals from its microprocessors while Krzanich was in charge of the company's supply chain.[13][14] He cited moral obligation as the reason to take action, and said the issue was "very important and personal" to him.[15][16] Intel worked to use conflict-free minerals for all microprocessors by 2014 and all products by 2016, and Krzanich was included in the documentary film Merci Congo (2016).[17][18][19]

In January 2012, Krzanich was promoted to the role of chief operating officer.[6][9][12] He led Intel's China strategy in this role.[7][20]

Krzanich served as chief executive officer (CEO) of Intel starting in May 2013.[6][9][21] In this role, Krzanich has been credited for expanding Intel's offerings beyond central processing units (CPUs) and into other technologies, including 5G wireless networks, artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles,[22][23] cloud computing, drones, and wearables.[9][12][24][25] Intel has also explored artificial, augmented, and virtual reality,[26][27] as well as machine learning, during his tenure.[28][29]

In January 2015, he announced Intel's $300 million Diversity in Technology initiative to support the company's goal to achieve full representation of women and underrepresented minorities in Intel's U.S. workforce by 2020, and accelerate diversity and inclusion across the technology industry at large. These activities include funding engineering scholarships at historically black colleges and universities, establishing a professional gaming women's team, and sponsoring female students to attend game developer conferences in partnership with the International Game Developers Association.[30][31][32] In addition to Intel's Diversity in Technology initiative, the company's Hack Harassment campaign has worked to address cyberbullying with Krzanich as CEO.[33][34]

During the Goldman Sachs Systematic Investing Conference, former Alphabet chair Eric Schmidt discusses the future of AI – from the impact of voice on the healthcare industry to advisory applications in finance. He also emphasizes the cloud as a cybersecurity safeguard and gives his advice for aspiring leaders.

On the future of computing: “I have always been skeptical that there would be any one next user interface. I think that a more likely model of computing is that computing, if you will, disappears. It just becomes part of our environment.”

On the threat of computers “taking over”: I think a more likely outcome ...is [that] the [computer] system becomes “savant systems” – where they use their ability to see very deeply, to see everything, things that humans can’t do, and then they offer choices and scenarios. They offer advice.  And then the human goes, ‘Wow.’”

On the tech industry’s war for talent: “I think you’re seeing the difference between supply and demand play out. But the fact of the matter is - we have very good news. Computer science is now the number one major in essentially all of the top universities. I call this the ‘Mark Zuckerberg Effect.’”

2021 plan: How to build wealth?

 January 1, 2020

Introduction

I like to think about more than three ideas how to build wealth in 2021. I was purchased hundreds of time on stocks in 2020, but I did not know to buy low and hold, and sell it more than 50% at the end of December, 2020. I like to think about three more ideas how to build wealth.

At least three ideas

I think that I should invest time to learn more about business, one of ideas is to watch at least 100 videos of CNBC videos - interviews with CEO for US business.

I like to spend at least 10 hours to watch interviews related to AI. I need to learn more and so I can think better in terms of business.
