Book reading | Chris Richardson | Microservices patterns | 7 Implementing queries in a microservice architecture | Using the CQRS pattern

March 29, 2021

Introduction

I rushed to learn Azure and Microservice before Microsoft onsite interview this February, but I did not find a book with detail about CRQS. Now I had chance to read the book chapter 7 and fully understand the concept to use CQRS.

My book reading time

I spent a few hours to go over the chapter 7: 7 Implementing queries in a microservice architecture

I like to take some notes in the following. Stay tuned.

SEAC stock | 40% gains | mutli-million dollar contract | volume over 100,000,000

I have $7, 600 dollars cash in my Ameritrade.com account. I should be able to purchase $7600 dollar at price of $1.50/ share, and then plan to sell those shares before 4 PM PST time in extended hours. It is ok for me to take risk to lose 40% of those shares at price $1.40, and then invest them to have some gains in short term. The price 60 cents was lowest in 52 weeks.

I also should consider to purchase shares in TFSA account. And I should take one day vacation to make sure that I can have some gains.

• Responsible for implementing components for the next Data Warehouse product of the company. Installed and configured the product in multiple customers. Used the ff. technologies: Java, Linux (CentOS), Hadoop (Hortonworks), MySQL, JasperReports, VMWare.
• Created several Java applications that gather data from heterogeneous sources (REST, FTP, XML, RDBMS, flat files, etc.) and prepared them for next stages of data processing by uploading output to HDFS. Data are from the video-on-demand system. Some were processed using map-reduce and others were transformed into Hive tables. Organized collection of data through Oozie workflows and processed them to create report datasets using Hive/SQL queries. Transferred report datasets from Hive to MySQL database using SQOOP. Ambari was used for handling the Hadoop services.
• Created new jrxml, queries and stored procedures to process data for reporting through JasperReports. The reports include information like assets, products, error rates, streaming details, bandwidth, purchases, billing records, etc.
• Successfully worked on manual and automated data migration in databases (schema changes, transfer of data from various sources and format)
• Added optimizations in database queries and stored procedures.
• Performed product installation and configuration in different customer sites
• Added JUnit tests using Powermock, Mockito, Hamcrest and JaCoCo for code coverage
• Researched new technologies and implemented prototype/proof-of-concept (PoC) for a cloud based Data Warehouse reporting solution using the ff. technologies: Java, Linux, Kafka, Spark, Storm, KafkaStreams, Kibana, Elastic Search, Fluentd, JasperReports, AWS.
• Maintained and improved legacy Data Warehouse product of the company based on Windows and MS SQL; Added features to be able to connect the legacy system to a new system as customers adopt the new product line

Actionable Items

How to do good equity research on Seas stock?

Bias for action. Purchase $5000 shares at price $1.5 dollar/ share first, and then start to look into details through Linkedin, finviz, and read more carefully about business news about new contract.

Evalutate downrisk. Always take it seriously the volume. The top one of stock market is SEAS. It is unbelievable for short-term push and dump scheme.

Go over the technology stacks for SEAS, understand that it is so important to stay latest in the technology.

Take some risk. When I do not have confidence, I should try a few ideas to test and figure out my worries. I will add more here.

TCDA stock: 100 shares | Steven Cohen over 200 million position on TCDA

 March 29, 2021

I need to learn from the following article about TCDA stock. I like to learn more about analytical data based on research of TCDA equity.

  1. TCDA stock 5.15 - fairly valued
  2. Share price is three year low
  3. FDA - the agency feels more data is needed in regard to its efficacy
  4. We will now focus on the VALOR-CKD trial to generate additional data prior to the end of 2022.

Steven Cohen Expands Health Care Holdings With Tricida

Here is the article.

After previously exiting a position in the fourth quarter of 2020, Point72 Asset Management leader Steven Cohen (Trades, Portfolio) disclosed a new 5.03% stake in Tricida Inc. (NASDAQ:TCDA) earlier this week.

With the goal of generating superior risk-adjusted returns, the billionaire guru's Stamford, Connecticut-based firm invests in a wide range of asset classes worldwide. Its long-short strategy is based on bottom-up research processes focusing on fundamentals and macroeconomic conditions.

According to GuruFocus Real-Time Picks, a Premium feature, Cohen invested in 2.5 million shares of the San Francisco-based pharmaceutical company on March 23, impacting the equity portfolio by 0.06%. The stock traded for an average price of $5.01 per share on the day of the transaction.

The company has a $254.74 million market cap; its shares were trading around $5.15 on Friday with a price-book ratio of 2.34.

The median price-book chart shows the stock is trading near its historical value currently, suggesting it is fairly valued. GuruFocus says the share price is also approaching a three-year low.

Tricida is focused on developing its investigational drug candidate, veverimer, to treat metabolic acidosis in patients with chronic kidney disease. On March 3, the company announced it has been granted additional U.S. patent coverage for its composition of matter related to the treatment through 2038. Veverimer, however, is still awaiting the Food and Drug Administration's approval as the agency feels more data is needed in regard to its efficacy.

The company also reported its fourth-quarter and full-year 2020 results on Feb. 25. Research and development expenses for the quarter were $27.3 million, while the net loss was $1.09 per share.

For the full year, research and development expenses came in at $148.4 million, while the earnings loss was $5.29 per share.

In a statement, President and CEO Gerrit Klaerner, Ph.D., commented on the company's performance and the progress of its key drug candidate.

"We accomplished a great deal in 2020 but were obviously disappointed that we could not launch veverimer as the first and only FDA-approved treatment for chronic metabolic acidosis in patients with CKD," he said. "We will now focus on the VALOR-CKD trial to generate additional data prior to the end of 2022."

GuruFocus rated Tricida's financial strength 4 out of 10. In addition to an Altman Z-Score of zero, which warns the company could be at risk of bankruptcy, the Sloan ratio is indicative of poor earnings quality.

The company's profitability fared even worse, scoring a 1 out of 10 rating on the back of negative returns that underperform a majority of competitors. Tricida also has a low Piotroski F-Score of 3, which suggests operating conditions are in poor shape.

Cohen is currently Tricida's largest guru shareholder. Jim Simons (Trades, Portfolio)' Renaissance Technologies also owns the stock.

Portfolio composition

Cohen's $20.5 billion equity portfolio, which was composed of 879 stocks as of the three months ended Dec. 31, is most heavily invested in the technology, health care and consumer cyclical sectors.

Other drug manufacturers the guru was invested in as of the end of the fourth quarter included AstraZeneca PLC (NASDAQ:AZN), Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE:LLY), Merck & Co. Inc. (NYSE:MRK), Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. (NYSE:BMY), Bausch Health Companies Inc. (NYSE:BHC), Biogen Inc. (NASDAQ:BIIB), Sanofi SA (NASDAQ:SNY) and many more.

ACAD stock: 100 shares | Yahoo -> Finance -> Conversation | My study

 March 29, 2021

I like to spend 10 to 15 minutes to read about ACAD stock since I did purchase 100 shares of ACAD at price of $28.15/ shares.

Yahoo -> Finance -> Conversation

I am glad to have something to read. Compared to GRAY stock, I had over $8000 capital to invest on, there is nothing to read through Yahoo -> Finance.

It is challenge for me to get updated on ACAD. I like to understand better after three to six months.

  • 2021 Guidance

ACADIA expects total revenues from Nuplazid sales for the Parkinson’s disease psychosis indication to be in the range of $510-$550 million for 2021. The guidance does not include potential revenues from the dementia-related psychosis (“DRP”) indication, for which Nuplazid is currently under review.
The company expects its R&D expenses to be in the range of $300-$320 million, while SG&A expenses are projected in the band of $560-$590 million for full-year 2021.

Question for the panel-----Is a CRL priced into the stock right now? If anything less than a CRL is revealed, like a 90 day extension for the company to provide any supplemental data or information requested by the FDA, does the price rebound back into the $40's? I am as baffled as everyone else here given the FDA's not only cooperation, but practically rolling out the red carpet for Nuplazid to be approved for DRP with all of the allowances they have provided ACAD. And the fact that the FDA even went through their own supplemental review of Nuplazid due to the hit piece 2 years ago and concluded, again, that there were no additional safety concerns over the drug and no anomalous adverse effects should have led to nothing but a smooth-sailing sNDA approval. As Ricky said to Lucy many times-----they have some splainin to do.

How are you feeling about ACAD?

I guess the entire gamut has been covered. As annoying as it is, I think there will be a CRL, because the form letter is the standard precursor to a CRL. It seems unjust that the FDA would have waited this long after leading the company on. But, this is government and there's no accountability. Is the CRL baked in? We could figure that out only by knowing what's in the CRL. It's like someone telling you that they got in an automobile collision. What will it cost to repair? When will the car come out of the shop? And will it drive like it did before? There's a world of difference between a parking lot scratch from a shopping basket and a head on collision with a logging truck at 30 mph, but they are both accidents. So, I guess what's baked in is something in the middle.
