Why Americans Feel So Poor | CNBC Marathon

Here is the link.

1,271,257 views Jan 20, 2023 #CNBC

CNBC Marathon explores why American workers’ budgets feel so stretched. The middle class was once a symbol of the American dream. It meant financial security and an opportunity for a better future. But that portrait of the American middle class is quite different today. A survey in 2018 found that a third of middle-income adults don’t have as much as $400 to cover an unexpected expense. And while the middle-class lifestyle grows more expensive and uncertain, it’s also moving beyond the reach of younger generations. Maybe the cause is related to American workers’ income? When adjusted for inflation, wages have remained virtually unchanged over the last 50 years, with workers today earning just 12 cents more than they did in 1972. And with inflation at its highest since 1971, Americans are feeling the pain of slow wage growth. Two-thirds of American workers said that inflation has outpaced any salary gains made in the past year. But some economists argue that the concept is merely a myth politicians use to promote their careers. So, how real is wage stagnation in America today and what does it mean for American workers? And CNBC takes a look at why Americans have so much debt. Household debt in America reached $16.15 trillion during the second quarter of 2022. And debt is likely to grow even further due to soaring inflation. 43% of Americans are expected to add even more debt within the next six months. So why are so many Americans in debt today and what impact does it have on the U.S. economy? Money can be stressful in the U.S. Americans are more worried than ever about money and the economy. In a survey by the American Psychological Association, 87% of Americans said inflation and the rising costs of everyday expenses were causing them stress. Roughly two out of every five U.S. adults said money is negatively impacting their mental health, according to Bankrate. Watch the video above to learn what’s causing this anxiety around money and how Americans can deal with their stress. CNBC Marathon brings together the best of CNBC’s coverage of American workers’ financial woes. Zero Days to Expiration (0DTE) Options and How They Work

Oct. 20, 1987 | BEDLAM ON WALL STREET : Stocks Plunge 508 Amid Panic : Record One-Day Decline Eclipses 1929 Market Drop : Huge Losses Raise Fears for Economy

Fear and panic of historic proportions overwhelmed the stock market Monday, forcing the Dow Jones industrial average to a stunning decline of 508 points, by far the biggest one-day plunge in history.

The Dow Jones average lost almost a quarter of its value, nearly doubling the percentage drop that occurred on Oct. 28, 1929, the crash that preceded the Great Depression. With Monday’s fall, the Dow has lost half the ground it had gained since the bull market got under way on Aug. 12, 1982, when the Dow stood at a mere 776.92.

The collapse came on dizzying trading volume of 604.4 million shares on the New York Stock Exchange, nearly double the previous record of 338.5 million shares, set last Friday.

How to check if your phone, laptop can stream video over its USB Type C port?

Published On 06/16/2022 12:02 PM by QZ Support

dp alt mode ,video over usb type c ,usb type c to hdmi ,usb type c to vga

Not all USB Type C ports are same. USB-C port is just a connector shape. An USB-C port belongs to a specific USB version (USB 2.0, 3.0, 3.1, 3.2) and hence has predefined features and capabilities. Only USB-C port with USB 3.1 or above version can stream video.

USB 3.1 or above versions support DP Alt Mode feature. This feature enables them to stream video signal.  You need to confirm if your device's USB Type C port is with USB 3.1 or above version before trying USB Type C to HDMI/VGA applications. To do this, check your device's specifications or consult the manufacturer.

Here is a ready refference list of devices which DO SUPPORT video stream over USB Type C.
