Dialpad - weekend study

Nov. 17, 2019

Introduction

It is the weekend and then I took two hours walk outside my home. I was thinking about how to find a good opportunity for me to invest. And then I got my assignment to study the private company called dialpad.

Weekend time

I did not play Leetcode weekly contest last Saturday since the time moved back to 6:30 PM instead of 7:30 PM. I spent time to work on a few things on personal finance, chatted with my renters in Florida.

I am so excited to learn that I have chance to study dialpad.com this evening.

Here is the article in Chinese.

Here is the another article.

Uberconference

“方差”(variance)这一词语率先由罗纳德·费雪(Ronald Fisher)在其论文《The Correlation Between Relatives on the Supposition of Mendelian Inheritance》 [1]  中提出。

Victoria portfolio update

Nov. 16, 2019

Introduction

I setup my portfolio on June 2019, S & P 500 Index 2900, now it is 3100. I like to review profit and check performance.

Here are the performance charts I got from Jstock app on my mobile phone Samsung S6.

Key Largo portfolio update

Nov. 16, 2019

Introduction

I like to manage myself. If I do not spend 100 hours to study invest, and I learn something basics, or I do not share with any one, I should not think that I can make a lot of money. It is natural that I will suffer behavior problems, such as common finance behavior problem, like loss aversion, anchor bias, buy high and sell low etc. So it is important for me to invest time to write blogs about my portfolio, and then look into the issues. I was the young lady who sold VIGRX fund in loss in 2001 and then sold everything in 2009 with loss of over $6,000 US dollars when market was lowest in last 15 years. Now I am much mature since I started to learn first and invested more than 500 hours to study about investment in 2019 after I turned 52 years old in 2018.

Progress report

I am happy to see the profit since S & P 500 index went up in last week. I made purchase at 2900 S & P 500 index, now it is 3100.

Here are performance charts I got from my Jstock app on my Samsung S6 mobile phone.

How to become a millionaire as an author of coding blog?

Nov. 15, 2019

Introduction

It is my personal finance research. I like to write down my thoughts about the topic, which can be described as "How to become a millionaire as an author of coding blog?".

My analysis

I have almost completed one year personal finance research starting from Nov. 2018. I just went back to invest on stock market this May, and then I learned the importance to stay in the market, not time the market. Now the profit value of my Key Largo is $1333.67 us. dollars, and my profit value of Victoria portfolio is $1471.19 Canadian dollars.

It is very tough for me to build wealth and grow rich to become a millionaire. I only have 7% of one million Canada dollars. I do think that it is so important for me to work on coding blog, and then I can track down my weakness, my bottleneck, most of important lesson I should learn from.

As a blog product manager, I also think that it will be best tool for me to manage myself. I like to get all tips coming in from the world. Since I write blogs, and I am doing content marketing.

I learn from ROSS stock growth from 1999 to 2019. If I invest $10,000 dollars in 1999 on ROSS stock, then the value will be half a million.

I can certainly push myself to learn more business, find individual stock like ROSS.

Best learner in the world

If I can find out what to learn, and also have experience to be a best learner in one area. I will figure out how to have ideas how to make a million dollars first, so I can try some ideas next.

It is hard for me since I am so stubborn starting from 2001, and then I need to learn basics of capitalism, and learn how to do a good research. In 2019, after wasting 20 years from 1999 to 2018, I do need a lot of hours in order to learn personal finance or investment, I push myself to read and learn so many content, hundreds of hours videos and books, articles.

Date my money - transfer fund from China bank back to Canada

I like to do more study cases about my finance decision starting from 2010 to 2019. Back in 2014, I took a vacation trip to China, I decided to get Scotia bank check of $7,000 Canadian dollar, and then deposited into China bank. I need to pay my mom's support, I plan to transfer the fund to China since my mom started to develop dementia. I still have $20,000 Chinese yuan in China bank making minimum interest starting from 2014.

I missed the opportunity to invest a condo in the city of Surrey from 2010 to 2014, and I understood that there are so many issues in my personal finance decision from 2010 to 2018. I had no clue how to make an investment. I tried to please so many people but I did not invest into the opportunties for myself.

How to motivate a young person work hard?

Nov. 14, 2019

Introduction

It is tough to be an aunt. My young sister is supporting her daughter to study in Canada high school this October. She complained to me that I did not support my nephew. I like to have a short research on this topic.

Being frugal

I am frugal, since I purchased a used car in 2015 costing me $5,500 Canadian dollars. My sister asked me why I did not purchase a brand new car in 2015.

Last week, I told my sister that one of my SJTU classmates retired last year. I still do not have a home in Canada. How can I give away thousands dollars to my nephew free, he needs a brand new iPhone or other things. I may be homeless if I am not careful on my personal finance.

My millionaire dream

I like to work on my millionaire dream. I have value my own time, and all efforts I put in last 10 years on my current job.

I should teach young people to work hard. If a person does not want to work for low pay job in Canada, then he will not get a high pay job one day, or very small chance to get one.

Having a stable job, I have more time to learn how to invest. I have more time to learn leadership principle, help my current employer succeed in business.

Find ideas to build wealth

A US millionaire dream without changing jobs

Nov. 14, 2019

Introduction

It is my personal finance research. I like to do a short research to see how many will be a millionaire for those selected for Facebook onsite, but not getting a full time job.

Motivation

I like to do a case study on myself first, since I went to Facebook onsite in 2019, but I did not get the full time job. But I think that the value of onsite is really pushing me to work hard, find ways to build wealth, grow rich; and also help community and young generation to succeed, help my current employer make millions more.

I want to be a millionaire in US dollar asset. I think that I may not get the job from Facebook. But definitely I should work hard to make my millionaire dream become true. It is more challenging, but it is doable.

How to make it happen?

I have asset in my 401 K and also IRA, which is less than $30,000 US dollars. If I like to make it happen, then I will take high risk to purchase stocks which will be 40 times more value.

Who is my new coach?

Nov. 1, 2019

Introduction

It is my most challenging question to work on. How to find my next coach? I hired a coach in May 2018, and I think that I made progress, I could get Facebook onsite in 2019 and Amazon onsite. Now it is time for me to get a new coach, I spend most of time to work on personal finance and learn to invest. Who is my new coach?

My new coach

I thought about the question. I am still searching for the coach. I remembered Sallie and her advice about career management. She advises to invest on the stock market, get rich first. Here is the blog.

For Krawcheck, the best career advice no one is talking about is actually financial advice: invest. Make your money work while you do, so that you have more financial freedom to make confident decisions in your career: ask for a promotion, quit the job that doesn't treat you well, or test your own business ideas. If you have money in the bank, you are free to play looser with your decisions. Men do it, and women should too.

I have to learn how to invest on individual stocks, and also I like to learn how to invest on 10 baggers.

Do I have time to read 20 investment books next two months?

Introduction

It is so interesting for me to spend last long weekend to work on a small booklet called smartest investor you ever know Canadian version. I tasted how good it can be to read a book since I learn that no matter how good a video can be on youtube.com, I should be better for me to push myself to be a learner by reading books instead of youtube.com videos. For now, it is ok since I just started my personal finance research in a year. My topic is to read 20 investing books in next two months.

Too ambitious

It is impossible for me to read those twenty books related to investing. I only have 8 weekends in two months. I will have a long break around Christmas and new year's time. I will stay most of time inside home office, read and learn personal finance as I did in 2018. I want to be a problem solver, in theory, a person should be able to earn a good living in this capitlism country.

How to read

I also like to find ways for me to learn from all those 20 books. What I can do is to learn the basics from each book, search articles about book review, youtube.com video first.

Practice while reading

I also like to find ideas how to invest high return long term portfolio, like individual stocks. I already have so many experience in my life, I taste best food, national parks, different countries, friends all over the world. I like to live simple life as I am a lonely, broke, and have to work on basics to get food on the table (pretend that I was a broke person). I like to walk more, play more sports, tennis and swimming, and all other activities without paying.

Skiing season is coming. I like to ski without taking more lessons. I like to experience what Vancouver can provide for me.

I like to set up a few portfolios as well. Maybe I will wait bear market first.

Good writing

It is so interesting to read the books. I do find investing book is written so well in English, compared to other books. I do like to know more people living in Canada, and collect more facts for me to use in my own analysis.

Get educated first

I do think that it is important for me to set a target, spend 500 hours to learn how to invest, understand the basics, and then I start to invest.

I also think about working hard, pushing myself to advance my knowledge, and meet more expert in the area. Life is so interesting when I start to work and learn personal finance.

I no longer have impulsive shopping behavior, even though I like to purchase a GPS last month, I noticed that smart people just use smart phone and download offline maps.

Comparing to my behavior in 2001, I am much confident on self-learner. I like to read and watch youtube.com, hunt for good content.

Here is the article about research talk. I like to learn something as well.

  • 一个是加强自动驾驶的安全性,而其安全问题涉及到近距离攻击(通过 CAN Bus 总线改变引擎控制单元的程序)和远程攻击(主要针对车载和通信系统及其硬件模块),而这两个方向是研究者可以尝试的突破口;

Perhaps one of the best investing books of all time – this timeless literary feat consists of key letters from Buffett to his partnership and to Berkshire shareholders. This is seminal wit and wisdom.

The year 2015 marks the fiftieth anniversary of Berkshire Hathaway under Warren Buffett’s leadership, a milestone worth commemorating. The tenure sets a record for a chief executive not only in duration but in value creation and philosophizing.

Investing book: The Making of an American Capitalist by Roger Lowenstein

Warren Buffett has become an American icon for good reason: he started simple, invested consistently, lived modestly, and built a ridiculous fortune. In my opinion, this is just the best book ever written about Warren Buffett, and it’s worth a read – or reread, if you’ve read it before. I’m on my third read.
This book also digs deep into the deals Buffett made and why he chose them. It’s a timeless handbook on investing, and it takes a hard look at the way Buffett’s values drove his investment choices. You can’t go wrong with this one. Get it here.

Investing book: Rule #1 by Phil Town

This book combines modern tools with Buffett-style investing and takes you step-by-step through the analysis process. A must-read for new investors.
Description:
Phil Town is now a very wealthy man, but he wasn’t always. In fact, he was living on a salary of $4000 a year when some well-timed advice launched him down a highway of investing self-education that revealed what the true “rules” are and how to make them work in one’s favor. Chief among them, of course, is “rule #1”: “don’t lose money.” Other rules are: don’t diversify…think like an owner, not an investor… never, ever be seduced into thinking the market is efficient. Town also believes strongly in “betting on the jockey,” putting your faith in managers who’ve proven their financial mettle. Get it here.

Investing book: The Intelligent Investor by Ben Graham

This 1949 book focused on Graham’s strategy of loss minimization over profit maximization. This is the basic foundation of a Rule #1 education and is a good investing book for beginners.  Buffett wrote a preface and appendix to the 2006 edition.

I love to be 53 years old

Nov. 10, 2019

Introduction

It is such a great topic called "I love to be 53 years old". I like to write down a few facts and arguments to support myself.

My experience

I am lucky to have health, a full time job with 10 years experience, and also I live in Canada. I like to work on a job not too challenging, and also I have freedom to explore so many things on the internet. I like to meet people, write coding blog, and also enjoy simple things in life without spending money.

I added this paragraph to make my article making more sense.

Facts

I also like to write down what I have learned through my wealth, how to grow rich; I like to write down my lessons. I have to push myself to be a learner. I also like to share with others, since I do believe that not every one is so smart and have good reading content when dealing with details.

I turned 53 years old in Oct. 2019. Life is tough and I like the challenge. I like to be a frugal person, and also I have to work on my physical fitness, so that I can enjoy life better and stay health.

I left United States in 2010 April, but I own a condo back in the city of Boca Raton, I made the purchase back in 1999, and the price goes up value. I wrote blogs with tag called understanding my mortgage.

I also learned how to invest my USA 401 K and IRA this May, and then put into US stock market, the value goes up $1,900 US dollars starting this May. So my asset in USA is up, but less than $200,000 US dollars.

I need to work on my asset in Canada. I have not invest anything starting from 2010 to 2019. I have to push myself to be a learner, and also a problem solver. I like to learn to be a frugal person starting this May 2019.

One bedroom condo price is too high in Surrey or Colverdale, and I am thinking about moving to a small city like kamloop. But it is still too expensive with price around $150,000 old condo.

I have to learn how to grow rich and build wealth in Canada. I remembered that I brought $18,000 US dollars check when I came to Vancouver back in April 2010. I waste money in China on party with my siblings, and then wasted my saving over a year in one month vacation from 2012 to 2017, I did not learn how to invest in Canada from 2010 to 2019 May. I learn the lesson. I could not pay a down payment for a home, how come do I spend money like crazy. Emotion is so challenge for me to learn as a single person.

I am working on my Canadian portfolio called Victoria and RRSP portfolio. I have to learn how to manage the portfolio as well. Here are the blogs.

I was not a good learner from 2001 to 2019 May as an owner with 401 K and IRA in USA, I only put in the bank with minimum interest rate. I finally got the time to move those funds out of USA New York community bank. Here are blogs related to my IRA CD.

I am a Canadian now. How can I survive next 20  years in this country?

Personal finance

I love to learn personal finance starting from May 2019. Even though I am not able to own a home in Canada, and I am 53 years old. I have to push myself to learn from my own experience.
