Impulsive decision making: Sept 9, 2020 Sale of ENB.TO, PPL.TO, TRP.TO

 Sept. 13, 2020

Introduction

As a single, there is biggest weakness in decision making. I do not have to ask any one's opinion, I make decision in split second. Do I write down 10 reasons to sell ENB.TO, PPL.TO, TRP.TO on Sept. 9, 2020? I did not. I chose to purchase more volatile oil stocks instead, HSE.TO, CVE.TO, IMO.TO, SU.TO. As a beginner, I also need to review my decision making process. Impulsive decision making in my last 50 years life. What should I work on this problem?

Decision making - at least three options, choose best one, safest one

I have to learn how to consult myself better, one way is to write down my thought process. And I will read again, and think again. I will find out what to do next time.

This decision making at least costed me another 6% loss from Sept. 9 to Sept 13, 2020. I did not analyze the market and make decision to stop loss. I just chose what I like to do, and then I just did it.

Stock market is my school

I have to learn how to make decision again. So I can make a better living again.

I chose to purchase more volatile stocks - HSE.TO, CVE.TO, IMO.TO, SU.TO

I am a gambler, based on my decision on purchase on Sept. 8, 2020. I did not think what if the market has another big selloff, should I stop loss?

IMO.TO stock purchase on Sept. 9, 2020

Actionable Items

At least I should come out three ideas, and then write down, compare to each other. Do not bet on more than $30,000 dollars on one market sector, similar stocks, no stop loss.

I should not take over $3000 dollars/ day. I should give it a try, if it does not work, then take loss, stop loss, sell them. The cost of commission is less than $10 dollars for 1000 share SU.TO stock.

Think about SU.TO price, I should plan to invest on long term. Next two quarters, or one year at least.

9:36 PM

I should figure out why those stocks go down. What are the reasons? Market risk, how I should learn and how many ways I should avoid losses, risk management.

ENB stock: 3 Top Oil Stocks to Buy in September

A big-time oil-fueled dividend

Matt DiLallo (Enbridge): This year has been a turbulent one for the oil patch as crude prices have tumbled, taking production volumes down with them. That's having an impact on some pipeline companies, which have seen their cash flow squeezed by falling volumes.

However, it's not affecting Enbridge one bit. That was evident during the first half of the year as its cash flow came in slightly ahead of its expectations thanks to the overall resilience of its business model. Because of that, it's still on track to meet its full-year forecast.

Despite that durability, shares of Enbridge have fallen about 20% this year. That has pushed its dividend yield up to an attractive 7.6%. While a payout that high is sometimes a cause for concern, that's not the case for Enbridge. That's because it has a relatively conservative dividend payout ratio of around 65% of its cash flow, and it has an investment-grade balance sheet backed by a leverage ratio below its target range.

That solid financial profile gives Enbridge the financial flexibility to continue expanding its operations. The company currently has several billion dollars' worth of projects under way, which it expects will fuel mid-single-digit annual cash flow growth for the next several years. That should enable Enbridge to continue increasing its already attractive dividend, which it has done for the past 25 years.

With a high yield, lower share price, and visible growth, Enbridge is an excellent oil stock to buy this month, especially given its resilience to this year's turbulent market conditions.

TOT stock: 3 Top Oil Stocks to Buy in September

Changing with the times

Reuben Gregg Brewer (Total): Chevron is a great oil company, but there's one problem -- the world is shifting toward electricity. That change will likely take decades, but for those worried about the eventual demise of oil, France's Total is charting a slightly different course. Specifically, it has been buying its way into the electricity space.

Total isn't completely changing its stripes; it remains an oil company. What it's doing is diversifying its business into a new area today to ensure that it changes with the big-picture shifts taking place in the broader energy sector. For some investors that will sound like the more appropriate plan given the increasingly negative view of carbon-based fuels.

That said, there are other reasons to like Total. For example, it offers investors a 7.8% yield backed by a dividend that has increased or held steady for 35 consecutive years. And, perhaps more important today, Total stated during its second-quarter 2020 earnings conference call that it believes the current dividend is sustainable with oil as low as $40 or so per barrel. If you like the idea of investing in the energy patch while other investors are running scared, but want to hedge your bets just a little, Total could be the winning call for you.

CVX stock: Chevron stock to purchase - 3 Top Oil Stocks to Buy in September

 Here is the article.

Chevron (NYSE:CVX)Total (NYSE:TOT), and Enbridge (NYSE:ENB

Chevron has provided the best growth and shareholder returns over the past 15 years, and there's reason to believe it could be the leading oil major over the next 15 years as well.

Chevron has consistently exhibited a rare combination of prudence and capital management in an industry that is notorious for overborrowing and overspending. Low debt-to-capital and debt-to-equity are reasons why the company's balance sheet continues to be one of the best in the industry. And since lower oil and gas demand and prices could last for years, Chevron's financial strength is now more important than ever.

Chevron's even-keeled temperament was most recently put on display with the company's decision to abstain from overbidding for Anadarko and wait for a better deal instead. That deal came in late July, when Chevron proved that patience is a virtue and agreed to acquire Noble Energy for what looks to be an attractive price.

Chevron currently yields 6% and has raised its dividend for 32 consecutive years, meaning it will pay you to be patient as well.

Advice to new investor

 Sept. 13, 2020

Introduction

It is hard for me to continue as a new investor, I learn from my loss and I do not understand the difference between investment and gambling. I like to spend some time to look into more and learn something first. I need to stop my positions first, and learn something from my own experience.

In this video, I share the 3 best Canadian oil stocks to watch right now, and then I figure out which Canadian oil stock is the most undervalued and best to buy NOW! Back in March 2020, the oil price crash caused oil stocks to drop near all-time lows. However, since then, oil stocks have recovered dramatically with the increasing oil prices and demand for oil, which could be a good sign for the near term future! But keep in mind... investing in oil companies is notoriously more risky than investing in other types of companies, simply because their earnings are highly correlated with the price of oil. There's no guarantee that oil prices will remain at a given price for any period of time! BUT keep in mind... even though I feel some of these companies are undervalued at their current levels, it doesn't mean that they can't fall further! My morning walk 20 minutes around my neighborhood

It was around 10:00 AM. I had some headache, and worried about my gambling issue. So I decided to take a walk and it should help me cope with my headache. I guessed that I played a lot of tennis last Friday night, but I did not take enough salt to cover the fatigue and get good nutrition after over three hours sports.

53 year old physical body, I should think and be careful how to treat my body and signals. Every time there is a strike, I learn to take a walk and get close to nature, and also get very good nutrition food as well.

My attitude problem: Talk about my practice on Leetcode 146 LRU cache

 Sept. 12, 2020

Introduction

It is easy for me to track my attitude problem once I document everything. Today I had chance to review my practice back in May 2019, and I remembered that I spent over 90 minutes to write a practice, but I did not learn from all C# discussion post, and I did not know that LinkedListNode is a class to work in double linked list LinkedList. So I found out that I have attitude problem.

Work on attitude

The purpose of Leetcode practice is to work on algorithm, learn and share my experience. But I have to cultivate myself to learn from other experience. This is minimum cost to learn from my practice.

Before May 2019, there are more than two discussion solution using LinkedListNode, and all the code pass Leetcode discussion post.

As a C# developer, it is the minimum to learn to write a working solution.

So my argument is that I have attitude problem to handle my time and my goal of practice of Leetocde 146 LRU cache.

5 years hard working - C# Leetcode is not enough to master C# API design

 Sept. 12, 2020

Introduction

It is my short research. I do not learn how to design C# double linked list using LinkedList and LinkedListNode, so that  I am pretty sure that I need to work on API design better.

One phone screen

Through one short phone screen, I learn that I have to work hard to prepare. The idea of phone screen is to bring into most hard working people and I like to be one of them.

Somehow I did not practice too many algorithms in two weeks preparation.

C# LinkedListNode Class: First time I learn the class

 Sept. 12, 2020

Introduction

It is my first time to learn C# LinkedListNode<T>. I need to learn how to write using C# LinkdList and LinkedListNode to write a double linked list. But through my past practice I wrote my own double linked list.

10 minutes to read C# LinkedListNode<T>

I don't know how to specify a double linked list in C#, I do believe that I should declare LinkedListNode<T> and also LinkedList, I will figure out.

Leetcode LRU - C# solution I wrote in May 2019 first time. But I did not have time to write using existing C# LinkedList and understand the double linkedlist can be implemented. The discussion post was added after May 2019 using LinkedListNode.

Sample code

I have to be able to train myself in 10 minutes to read C# code, and then understand the design.

Here is the gist of C# code. Here is the page.

7 Characteristics of Successful Gamblers

 Here is the article.

No matter what your goals are, though, the seven characteristics in this post will help you achieve them:

  • Math Friendly
  • Risk Friendly
  • People Friendly
  • Mindful
  • Healthy
  • Realistic
  • Long-Term Oriented

Some of these might seem more obvious than others. Math, obviously, is critical to become a successful gambler — after all, that’s what probability is all about.

Math isn’t enough, though. You can still be afraid of risk even if you understand the math. You might be so socially awkward that you enjoy far less gambling than your money should afford you just because the casino employees treat you differently.

Meditate, and you’ll be better able to pay attention to what you’re doing. Eat better and get more exercise, and you’ll make better gambling decisions, too.

Maybe most importantly, be realistic. If a game has a negative expectation, don’t expect to win in the long run.

And you should always keep the long term in mind when you’re thinking about gambling. That’s how you make better decisions.

Gambling addiction 101 - Symptoms of Gambling Addiction

  • Gambling with bigger and bigger sums in order to attain the same thrill
  • Becoming irritable when attempting to reduce gambling
  • Making repeated attempts to cut back or stop gambling
  • Being preoccupied with gambling and constantly thinking about past experiences and upcoming opportunities
  • Gambling when depressed or anxious
  • Returning to gamble after a bad outing, to recoup losses
  • Concealing or mischaracterizing the extent of the gambling
  • Losing or being close to losing a valued relationship, job or opportunity because of gambling
  • Seeking financial help from others after gambling losses

Don't Make Gambling Mistakes in Stocks

 Here is the link.

How many times have you been up at the casino and then lost it all? The truth is, we have the tendency to give up most of what we win. In stocks, we sometimes have the same mentality as gamblers, holding out too long on some positions that should have been closed. Remember, everything is cyclical.

Why Do Addicted Gamblers Always Lose Money?

 Here is the link.

Addiction is behavior of action. Not the money. The feel of the gamble is more important. The illusion is about acting not the amount he earns.

The long he sits in the table, ...

Why addicted gamblers are bound to lose. Similar to ..., similar to heroin.

Losing in the long run - individual - keep in mind that gambler ...

delusion - longer you addict, not rational. It is harmful.

He believes that he is able to make money. In his mind, he likes to win more. Back to play. Not satisfied. Addicted to game, serious in debt.

The Biggest Mistakes That Gamblers Make At The Casinos

 Here is the link.

A look at the 5 biggest problems that gamblers have to overcome. Check out the ways to overcome them in the description.

Gambling is a hard activity to do well at. There's a lot to keep track of when it comes to your gambling habits. Bankroll, spending, rules of all the casino games you play. It's an incredibly disciplined hobby because of how much it can cost if you do it wrong. That's why we wanted to point out the biggest mistakes that gamblers make when it comes to the way they play and the way they pay for it. Gambling is supposed to be fun, but many treat it like a money making scheme. The fact you can win money corrupts how people view gambling. It's a hobby, plain and simple. So why treat it like a job. We hit on a few things when it comes to the way people actually gamble. We touch on the gambler's fallacy. The gambler's fallacy is a belief that things become less likely because they've happened a lot. The gambler's fallacy is what causes people to start making bad bets because they think they're more likely to happen. Then we look at people who don't pay attention to their spending. They don't watch their bankroll and even worse, they will overspend because they think the money is due to them. Gambling isn't about winning money. It's about having fun with the upshot of winning money if you're lucky. Gambling doesn't just rely on luck and there's a lot of skill involved. It's strange then that people never learn the rules of the games they play. You won't get better at Blackjack, Roulette, online slots or any other casino game if you don't know how to play them. Practice makes perfect. So it's strange that so many people will mindlessly play casino games without understanding how those games actually work. The casino is a complicated place, full of hundreds of rules and disciplined habits to get into. So check out our video of the top errors gamblers make at the casino, then look over some of the resources above, so you can make sure you're the best gambler you can be.

It is hard for me to invest on stock market. I am not sure if I am a gambler or investor. I like to push myself to learn more about business.

After filming this video, Saudi Arabia announced they were slashing prices on oil.. AGAIN! This led to another large blow to the North American oil companies. Suncor was apart of this hit, falling almost 10% on the day. The short term looks rough and volatile for Suncor & others in the field, however, Suncor's strong balance sheet should allow them to ride out this wave and come out the other side. This stock is not for those who cannot handle the ups and downs, however, those who can should be rewarded when all is said & done.

Dividend cut from 7.5% 1.84 early in 2020 to 4.04% 6.84

Actionable Items

I do not know if I am investing or gambling. Here is my SU.TO purchase history after August 31, 2020.

SU.TO stock: Support management dividend cut

Sept. 12, 2020

Introduction

It is my gamble on 1000 share of SU.TO stocks. I bought back last Friday, but I tried to understand why SU.TO went down over 13.79% after August 31, 2020.

One of comments:

The fundamentals are clear for SU but what they need to do is cut the dividend completely and focus that 300-400 million in capital per quarter into stabilizing and growing while things are cheap and there is a chance to do it.

It is time for the board and management team to show some ingenuity. If this was presented well to the public and of course the pension funds/instuitional groups who love the dividend they would go for it easy. Everyone cares about capital gains more than dividend. Then bring the dividend back after and it's a win win and you get another boost in buy ins.

New research: Common mistakes a gambler

 Sept. 12, 2020

Introduction

I like to take a break to work on algorithm or system design. I like to take some time to watch videos from Humbled trader. But I also like to spend over 100 hours to study gambler common mistakes.

My first two hours research

Here is the first time I like to study 52 mistakes of a gambler to avoid.

Gambling too often.

The best gamblers in the world, guys who bet on sports for a living, or guys who count cards professionally, know how to take breaks. They know how to wait for a good opportunity and take advantage of it, then sit back and wait for that opportunity to come up again. Pro sports bettors aren’t wagering on every game of the season. They’re wagering when they have an expectation of a positive result. If you find yourself gambling too often, you’re probably exposing yourself to way too much risk.

Believing in the gambler’s fallacy.

We could write an entire 5,000-word page about gambling fallacies alone, but we’ve boiled it down to just two that most gamblers fall for. The first is the basic gambler’s fallacy. The gambler’s fallacy is a belief that if something happens more frequently over a given period of time, it is then less likely to happen in the future. It also means the opposite – a belief that if something happens less frequently over a period of time, it is then more likely to happen in the future. The truth is, numbers have no memory. Modern casino games are built with mathematics. No modern gambling game is more or less likely to pay out in the future based on past events.

100 hours with Humbled Trader: Make it possible

 Sept. 12, 2020

Introduction

It is important step for me to treat myself as a beginner. I like to play less than $5000 dollars on my TFSA account before I spend 100 hours with Humbled Trader, so many hours to watch videos on her channel.

Understanding basics

It is not so hard for me to learn those topics, after I tasted the danger of losing money so quickly in less than two weeks over $6,000 dollars with a bet around $70,000 dollars bet. I swing from short term betting to long term planning, and then I got panic after losses up to $6,000 dollars in one to three day losses without stop loss.

Count down years to turn 60 year old

 Sept. 12, 2020

Introduction

Congratulations! I am healthy and plan to live up to 60 years old. I wish that I can stay fit, easy to run a marathon to learn starting as 53 year old. I need to make plans how to make a living and enjoy life and work as a senior.

53 year old

I need to take time to push myself to learn most in my 2020. It is best time for me to learn and my memory is still strong to handle stress, and everything is still perfect to live frugal and more outdoor life style, full time job and enjoy working with younger generations.

What are my goals?

I do think that it is smart to learn how to make money by trying all kinds of ideas, I do not have too many options.

I did try 5 months of trading on stock market; I just lost all my six months gains in less than one week. I need to take some time to learn more about basics first.

Second day after my Microsoft phone screen from Vancouver

 Sept. 12, 2020

Introduction

It is my tenth year on my current job. But I am not ready for job change. I need to get two to three years in Facebook or Microsoft or Amazon, get more learning so that I can be competitive for jobs in the market. I stay on my current job, and push myself to learn more about my weakness and strength, what to make myself more competitive as a 53 year old.

My passion and my ambitious with Microsoft

I got my first onsite interview back in 2008 from Microsoft in the city of Seattle. But I only had two rounds and then I was rejected for further rounds.

Things were not turning my direction until I failed Canada permanent resident application in Dec. 2008. I had to start 10 months lawsuit from January 2009 to Oct. 2009 to reopen my immigration case.

I did not learn the lesson since the interview was in September, and then after less than five months, my Canada skilled worker immigration was denied in December 2009. I did not follow up with a proof to provide $10,000 dollar bank letter to provide sufficient fund. I hired the consultant and he did not tell me, but I did not learn how to follow the process of immigration since I paid a consultant.

Starting from June 2016, I got three Amazon onsites, two Facebook onsite, now I got invitation for a Microsoft phone screen. I have to push myself to work hard, and then I can pass Microsoft phone screen first time in my life.

What I learned from Microsoft phone screen

It is my favorite algorithm to work on in the phone screen. I did learn so many things to work with the interviewer.

I do think that I have to work on c# programming language and then master C# programming language first, like mastering C# LinkedList all APIs, and how to write all features using those APIs first in order to pass phone screen from Microsoft.  (It should be second time. I had my first onsite from Microsoft in Sept. 2008.)

Life and work is tough and I like to keep learning. I like to be a better programmer and start my new journey as a better learner as a C# programmer.

My worry: SU.TO 1000 shared bought last Friday morning

Sept. 12, 2020

Introduction

I bet that there is another market crash next Monday morning. Wall street likes this game to play to make market to go up and down. Now it is downward game. What is true value of SU.TO stock and I did not know.

SU.TO stock

I did not understand why I made purchase those 1000 shares of SU.TO last Friday. I learn the term from gamble control - urges. It might be the urge and then I made purchase.

My learning of common mistakes from Humbled Trader

What I like to do is to remember those mistakes one by one. I already learn the lesson after I took loss over $6,000 dollars of my loss on August 31, 2020. It is only less than two weeks, I changed from one day $600/ gains, but I decided to expect more gains, with $1000 dollars loss, $2000 dollar loss, until $6000 dollars gains. I understood that my emotion got in my way. I did not know what I do. I am in the gamble of stock market.

The institutions like to make Canada oil stocks I bet on Su.TO, IMO.TO, HSE.TO and CVE.TO go down another 10-15% percent. I cut loss on those $6,000 dollars. But I still went back to purchase $20,000 last Friday to bet again.

Next Monday will have 5% to 6% loss when market opens. That is the game wall street likes to play. It is not easy world to hold 1000 shares of IMO.TO or SU.TO sotck.

Million view: TOP 5 Day Trading Beginner Mistakes to AVOID

 Here is the link.

1:37 Not planning your trades 4:08 Focus on trading PNL, not trading the charts 7:30 Not spending enough time paper trading 9:39 Scaling up trading size too quickly 11:32 Following chat room alerts to buy or sell stocks

Are you a beginner day trader and making these COSTLY mistakes? 1. Not having a trading plan: Many beginners jump into hot stock due to FOMO without knowing why they were buying, why the stock was running, nor their risk reward and exit plan. This is also known as chasing and will easily lead the trader to buying the VERY TOP. 2. Over Trading, which leads to Revenge Trading: Instead of trading according to their plans and the chart in front of them, many traders are trading their PnL (profit and loss). This will lead to over trading, then emotional trading, and finally revenge trading. I have blown up my trading account this way before due to emotional trading. 3. Not Paper Trading: Paper trading is basically risk free market screen time. Day trading beginners need to learn broker interface, how each stock reacts, and practice your technical analysis on LIVE charts. Paper trading will allow you to gain market screen time and prepare your mind emotionally for the ups and downs of stock trading. 4. Scaling up share size too quickly: When I started making $100 a day, I was so excited. So much so I wanted to jump into making $1000. I quickly learned that sizing up x10 means escalating the emotions as well. Psychologically, I was not ready for x10 the stress. It's very important to take your time when sizing up. 5. Following chat room alerts! You want to become a profitable day trader? Stop following others. This is perhaps the DEADLIEST trading mistake I see beginners do. Many of these trading chat rooms pump the stock up and dump the shares on unsuspecting beginner traders. 🖥️My Stock Scanners & News feed: Benzinga Pro FREE 14 day trial (use code "HUMBLEDTRADER" to get 25% Off ) http://bit.ly/2KXeAqH Trade Ideas Scanner (use code "HUMBLED15" to get 15% Off) https://lddy.no/m523

Most traders treat trading as a get rich quick scheme and never bother spending the time and effort to learn the skill first. This was not Techlead's mistake.
