The swim is arguably the biggest barrier for entry of triathlon: open water, challenging distances, and a sport that is difficult to master if we haven't done it in our youth. When I started, at the ripe age of 28, with no swimming background at all and zero hours spent in the pool, I was confronted with an unknown beast to tame.
