AMD stock | All time high

AMD Stock Rises After Chipmaker Raises Financial Targets

Wall Street analysts gave positive but cautious takes on the long-term strategy outlined by chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) at its financial analyst day in New York City. AMD stock rose Wednesday.

At the event on Tuesday, AMD forecast revenue increasing over the next three to five years at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) above 35%. It expects a greater than 60% revenue CAGR for its data center business, fueled by its artificial intelligence processors.

The company also predicted an adjusted operating profit margin greater than 35% and sees adjusted earnings per share exceeding $20. It forecast gross margins in a range of 55% to 58%, from the current 54%.

"AMD is entering a new era of growth fueled by our leadership technology roadmaps and accelerating AI momentum," Chief Executive Lisa Su said in a news release. "With the broadest portfolio of products and our deepening strategic partnerships, AMD is uniquely positioned to lead the next generation of high-performance and AI computing. We see a tremendous opportunity ahead to deliver sustainable, industry-leading growth. We have never been better positioned."

Further, AMD now sees a total addressable market for its data center products of $1 trillion by 2030, compared with $200 billion this year.

AMD Stock Nears All-Time High

On Tuesday, following the afternoon event, AMD stock closed at 237.52, down 2.7% for the day.

However, on the stock market today, AMD rose 9% to 258.89. It is now just below its record high of 267.08, reached on Oct. 29.

Meanwhile, shares of Nvidia (NVDA), AMD's main AI chip rival, rose a fraction to close at 193.80. Nvidia stock has struggled on news this week that investor SoftBank had sold its stake in the chipmaker.

AMD highlighted Meta Platforms (META), OpenAI and Oracle (ORCL) as buyers of its AI processors. It is currently shipping Instinct MI350 series graphics processing units. It will deliver Instinct MI450 series GPUs in the third quarter of 2026, followed by the MI500 series in 2027.

"While they did not announce any new customer partnerships beyond what has already been disclosed (OpenAI, Oracle, Meta, U.S. government), they did (once again) suggest the presence of additional multi-GW (gigawatt) customer engagements (we shall see)," Bernstein analyst Stacy Rasgon said in a client note. He rates AMD stock as market perform with a price target of 200.

AMD Stock Is On Two IBD Lists

At least four Wall Street firms raised their price targets on AMD stock after the company's presentation.

Melius Research analyst Ben Reitzes maintained his buy rating on AMD stock and increased his price target to 380 from 300.

"AMD made a solid pitch, emphasizing its strategic pillars of client/gaming CPUs (central processing units), server CPU, embedded, data center GPUs and networking," Reitzes said in a client note. "While there are customer concentration risks with OpenAI, we think the interest in the MI450 is real and has broadened out to other model providers (like Anthropic)."

Other analysts were less impressed by AMD's pronouncements. Oppenheimer analyst Rick Schafer said AMD's presentation was "more sizzle than steak." He is neutral on the stock with a perform rating.

AMD stock is on two IBD lists: IBD 50 and Tech Leaders.

Dow Jones Hits New High, 5 Stocks Flash Buy Signals As Shutdown Nears End; Cisco Jumps On Earnings

Dow Jones futures were little changed after hours, along with S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq futures. Dow component Cisco Systems (CSCO) jumped on earnings late.

The stock market rally was mixed Wednesday, with the Dow Jones hitting a record high on expectations that the government shutdown is about to end. The Nasdaq fell, even as Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) jumped on bullish AI guidance.

Dow banking giants Goldman Sachs (GS) and JPMorgan Chase (JPM) also broke out. Meanwhile, Citigroup (C) cleared an early buy point and Morgan Stanley (MS) topped a tight entry. Charles Schwab (SCHW) topped multiple early entries.

Goldman Sachs stock is on SwingTrader.

The video embedded in this article reviews Wednesday's market action and analyzes BeOne Medicines (ONC), Goldman Sachs and Interactive Brokers (IBKR).

Dow Jones Futures Today

Dow Jones futures rose 0.1% vs. fair value. S&P 500 futures were flat. Nasdaq 100 futures edged higher.

A House vote to end the government shutdown is expected to pass Wednesday night, following Senate approval earlier this week. The short-term funding bill will then go to the White House for President Donald Trump's signature.

Remember that overnight action in Dow futures and elsewhere doesn't necessarily translate into actual trading in the next regular stock market session.

Cisco Earnings

CSCO stock jumped in overnight action after Cisco earnings and guidance topped consensus amid strong AI orders. Cisco stock rose 3.1% to 73.96 in Wednesday's session, reclaiming a 72.55 cup-base buy point.

Stock Market Rally

The stock market rally had another Dow-led session with the Nasdaq falling slightly.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.65% in Wednesday's stock market trading, hitting a record high, led by UnitedHealth (UNH), Goldman Sachs and Cisco. The S&P 500 index edged higher. The Nasdaq composite declined 0.3%, but held that 21-day moving average. The small-cap Russell 2000 fell 0.3%, near session lows and just holding the 50-day.

The Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF (RSP) climbed 0.2% after retaking the 50-day line Tuesday.

The First Trust Nasdaq 100 Equal Weighted Index ETF (QQEW) edged up 0.2%, still just below the 21-dday line.

AMD surged in a day-two reaction to its bullish guidance for AI data centers and its own chip sales. But AI valuation concerns lingered, with Palantir (PLTR) falling 3.6%, below a buy point and back near its 50-day line.

AI compute providers sank on profit and execution concerns, with Oracle (ORCL) down 3.9%, and 33.1% from its Sept. 10 peak. CoreWeave (CRWV) lost 3.35% and Nebius (NBIS) 7.7%, bringing their weekly sell-offs to 17.9% and 15.2%, respectively. Nebius has more than tripled in 2025.

U.S. crude oil prices tumbled 4.2% to $58.49 a barrel.

The 10-year Treasury yield fell four basis points to 4.07%.

ETFs

Among growth ETFs, the Innovator IBD 50 ETF (FFTY) fell 1%, still well above last Friday's intraday low but marking its worst close in two months. The iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF (IGV) sank 1.1%, with Palantir and Oracle huge holdings. The VanEck Vectors Semiconductor ETF (SMH) climb 1.3%, with AMD stock a big piece of SMH.

ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK) declined 0.7% and ARK Genomics ETF (ARKG) lost 1.8%.

SPDR S&P Metals & Mining ETF (XME) popped 2.5%. The Energy Select SPDR ETF (XLE) retreated 1.4% and the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) gained 1.4%.

The Industrial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLI) edged up 0.1%.

The Financial Select SPDR ETF (XLF) rose 0.9%. JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and Schwab are all major holdings.

Stocks In Buy Zones

JPMorgan stock rose 1.5% to 320.41, clearing a 318.01 flat-base buy point.

Goldman Sachs stock popped 3.5% to 838.97, topping an 825.25 flat-base buy point, according to MarketSurge. The RS line hit a new high.

Citigroup stock climbed 2.1% to 102.88, clearing short-term highs within a flat base while still being near the 50-day line. The official buy point is 105.59.

Morgan Stanley stock gained 2.05% to 169.91 above a 167.13 three-weeks-tight entry, an add-on buying opportunity. MS stock rebounded off the 50-day line on Friday, but has tested that area several times since clearing a prior base.

Charles Schwab stock advanced 1.65% to 97.71, above several short-term levels and breaking a downtrend line. SCHW stock is still close to the 50-day line, regained last week. Schwab rival Interactive Brokers has performed better over the last several months and is close to a flat-base buy point, but not actionable currently.

What To Do Now

The stock market rally continues to do well, though leadership has shifted somewhat. There has been a shift away from many speculative and high-octane AI-related names and toward banks as well as biotechs and drug giants. Gold has resumed its leadership.

Shares of Swiss sneaker company On soar 20% as it raises guidance again

Key Points
  • Swiss sneaker brand On raised its guidance for a third time in a row as it posted results that beat Wall Street’s expectations on the top and bottom lines.
  • The company said it aims to be the most premium sportswear brand on the market, which is why it won’t offer any deals during the holiday shopping season.
  • Runner Hellen Obiri was wearing shoes made with On’s “LightSpray” technology when she broke the women’s record in the New York City Marathon earlier this month.
  • On raised its full-year guidance for the third quarter in a row on Wednesday after the Swiss sportswear company posted another three months of double-digit growth, bucking a slowdown in the sneaker market.

The company, known for its innovative approach to running shoes, is now expecting 2025 sales to reach 2.98 billion Swiss francs ($3.72 billion), up from its previous guidance of 2.91 billion francs, on a reported basis. On a constant currency basis, the company anticipates sales will grow 34% from the prior year, rising from its previous forecast of 31%.

The forecast is slightly above the 2.97 billion francs analysts were expecting, according to LSEG.

“Our focus on premium, on full-price sales, on innovation, on that intersection between performance and design is just resonating very strongly with the consumer, and it’s really setting ourselves apart,” CEO Martin Hoffmann told CNBC in an interview. “You see it in the results. We have strong top-line growth, we have a strong margin, so that shows that we stay fully committed to full-price sales, and this is across all our channels.”

Shares of On jumped more than 20% in morning trading Wednesday in New York.

During its 2025 third quarter, the sportswear company beat Wall Street’s expectations on the top and bottom lines.

Here’s how On performed compared with what Wall Street was anticipating, based on a survey of analysts by LSEG:

    • Earnings per share: 47 cents in francs adjusted vs. 25 cents expected
    • Revenue: 794 million francs vs. 763 million francs expected

LSEG updated the comparable adjusted earnings per share figure after this story was published to include earnings per share for both classes of the company’s stock.

The company’s reported net income for the three-month period that ended Sept. 30 was 118.9 million francs, or 36 cents per class A share, compared with 30.5 million francs, or 9 cents per class A share, a year earlier.

Excluding one-time items, On posted earnings of 43 cents per class A share.

Sales rose to 794.4 million francs, up about 25% from roughly 636 million francs a year earlier.

On’s rosy results come as competitors like Nike and Hoka plan for either a sales decline or slowdown in growth, as discretionary spending stagnates and tariffs take a bite out of shoppers’ wallets. In late September, Nike said it was expecting sales in its current quarter, which runs generally from early September to early December, to fall by a low single-digit percentage as it works to reignite innovation and streamline operations. Deckers, the parent company behind On’s fellow buzzy footwear brand Hoka, trimmed its sales guidance for Hoka in October.

  • Meanwhile, On is raising its sales guidance as it gears up for the holiday shopping season. Retail analysts expect most of the industry to lean heavily on discounts and promotions to drum up demand during the critical holiday shopping season, but On won’t even be offering a Black Friday discount, said co-founder and Executive co-Chairman Caspar Coppetti.

On will be “full price through the holiday season,” Coppetti said in an interview with CNBC. “This is against the backdrop of a very competitive and very discount-driven environment currently, and so this leveling up that we’ve done, and then just being able to command a much higher selling price, really sets On apart.”

While On is typically sold alongside brands like Nike, Hoka and Brooks Running, its holiday strategy is similar to those of luxury names. It’s part of the company’s strategy to be the most premium sportswear brand on the market by not just offering the highest prices but also the most innovative products across footwear and apparel.

Still far smaller than many of the legacy brands it competes with, On has slowly been chipping away at their market share primarily through innovation, where industry leader Nike has been criticized for falling behind.

Last year, On launched its Cloudboom Strike LS produced with its “LightSpray” technology, which makes performance running shoes using a spray gun in a matter of minutes. Runner Hellen Obiri was wearing the shoes when she broke the women’s record in the New York City Marathon by almost three minutes earlier this month.

“That’s a very strong validation,” said Coppetti. “Runners really do pay attention to what people are wearing now when they’re in a race, because these innovations trickle down and they inform their choices.”

Editor’s note: This story was updated to reflect that LSEG revised its comparable earnings per share figure to include estimates from both classes of stock. LSEG previously hadn’t disclosed that analysts use the combined earnings from both classes.

Cisco’s Earnings Are Expected to Rise. Results Could Be a ‘Barometer of Enterprise Demand.’

Cisco Systems earnings could get a boost if demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure has continued to grow.

Cisco is scheduled to report fiscal first-quarter earnings after the stock market closes on Wednesday. Analysts surveyed by FactSet expect the networking company to report adjusted earnings of 98 cents a share on revenue of $14.78 billion. In the same period last year, Cisco posted earnings of 91 cents a share on revenue of $13.84 billion.

Analysts also expect Cisco to report networking revenue—the segment that brings in the most revenue for the company and includes gear used in AI data centers—to be $7.47 billion, an increase from last year’s $6.75 billion.

“Cisco’s presence snakes underneath the global tech world, meaning its results can be a decent barometer of enterprise demand,” Joe Mazzola, head trading and derivatives strategist at Charles Schwab, wrote on Wednesday. He added that when Cisco last reported earnings, it cited solid AI infrastructure orders from web companies, which is a category he believes will be closely watched Wednesday night.

Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins said in August that AI infrastructure orders they received from webscale customers in fiscal 2025 were more than double the company’s original target, “indicating a massive opportunity ahead as we lead the required architectural shift and build the critical infrastructure needed for the AI era.”

UBS analyst David Vogt is optimistic that Cisco will reap the benefits from growing AI infrastructure demand. He upgraded shares of Cisco to Buy from Neutral on Nov. 2 while raising his price target on the stock to $88 from $74.

“We expect FY26 revenue growth to exceed the 4% to 6% guide with continued strong growth in FY27 driven by AI strength as the company has secured over $2B in AI orders from webscalers while closing in on $1B in Enterprise/Sovereign related orders,” Vogt wrote.

Shares of Cisco have gained 22% this year, outperforming the S&P 500’s 16% rise. But even though there are those on Wall Street who are optimistic that increased demand will help boost Cisco’s financials, there are some who remain cautious as competition and the possibility of companies pulling back spending remain risks.

“A.I. remains a tailwind, but Street expectations may have gotten ahead of reality,” Raymond James analyst Simon Leopold wrote in a note on Nov. 3. He rates the stock as Market Perform without a price target.

Shares of Cisco were up 0.5% to $72.08 on Wednesday.

Waymo

Here is the article.
