BeOne Medicines (ONC) is Wednesday's IBD Stock Of The Day. Shares of the IBD 50 biotech stock are breaking out after a record-breaking quarter for the company's blockbuster drug, Brukinsa.

Brukinsa treats a handful of blood cancers by blocking a protein called BTK. BTK is involved in the development and function of some white blood cells. But those cell can become too active, causing cancer. By latching onto BTK, Brukinsa prevents the cancerous cells from spreading.

The drug rivals Imbruvica from Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) and AbbVie (ABBV) as well as Calquence from AstraZeneca (AZN). During the third quarter, Brukinsa generated $1.04 billion in sales, up 51% vs. a year earlier.

RBC Capital Markets analyst Leonid Timashev called it "another solid quarter."

"We believe ONC remains well positioned to be a leader in (hematology oncology), with upside optionality on their solid tumor pipeline," he said in a Nov. 6 report.

The New BeiGene

BeOne Medicines changed its name last year from BeiGene and switched its Nasdaq ticker from BGNE to ONC.

In a release explaining the decision, the company said it wants to reflect that cancer, the leading cause of death worldwide, isn't a one-person or even a one-company problem.

"No person, family, scientist, clinician, hospital, policymaker, company or country can or should face this devastating disease alone," Chief Executive John Oyler said in a November 2024 statement. "We all must work together to win, which is why we are committed to playing a critical role and unifying the global community in the fight against cancer."

BeOne is notching incredible growth as it takes on AbbVie, AstraZeneca and J&J.

During the same three-month period in which Brukinsa sales topped $1 billion for the first time, AstraZeneca's Calquence brought in $916 million, growing just 13%.

J&J, which sells Imbruvica outside the U.S., reported $695 million in sales, down 8%. AbbVie reported $706 million in global sales of Imbruvica, down 15%. AbbVie commercializes the drug in the U.S. and shares profits on international sales.

"ONC attributes their success to rapid and increased adoption by patients and physicians across the U.S. despite launching later than competitors," Leerink Partners analyst Andrew Berens said in a report. "Additionally, ONC positions Brukinsa as the best-in-class BTK inhibitor with the broadest label and efficacy, regardless of risk status."

Fixed-Dose Combination

Importantly, BeOne announced the inclusion of a fixed-dose regimen using Brukinsa with venetoclax, the generic name for AbbVie and Roche's (RHHBY) Venclexta, in the National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines for patients with previously untreated chronic lymphocytic leukemia. The decision is based on a study called SEQUOIA.

AstraZeneca ran a similar study and is also hoping to win approval for its own fixed-dose combo of Calquence and venetoclax. Fixed-dose regimens don't need to be personalized based on a patient's weight. The AstraZeneca decision is expected in the first half of 2026.

"The inclusion was deemed a Category 2A endorsement, which will allow payers to reimburse for the off-label usage, but the company cannot directly promote the indications," Berens said.

He rates BeOne Medicines stock an outperform with a 356 price target.

Across all products, BeOne Medicines reported $1.4 billion in sales, up 40% year over year. That narrowly topped estimates for $1.37 billion. The company also sells a handful of other cancer drugs and is partnered with Amgen (AMGN) on several other products.

The company raised the lower end of its full-year outlook and now calls for $5.1 billion to $5.3 billion in sales.

BeOne Medicines Breaks Out

On Wednesday, BeOne stock rose sharply, breaking out of a flat base with a buy point at 355.30, according to MarketSurge chart analysis. Shares are now solidly trading in the chase zone, which runs up to 373.07. ONC stock is at its highest level since late 2021.

The relative strength line is trading near a 52-week high on the weekly chart. On the daily chart, the biotech stock is trading above its 50-day and 200-day moving averages. Shares have nearly doubled in 2025, climbing 98% as of Wednesday afternoon.

Shares have a strong IBD Digital Composite Rating of 97. This means BeOne Medicines ranks in the top 3% of all stocks in terms of fundamental and technical measures. Shares have a slightly lower, but still strong, Relative Strength Rating of 92, reflecting their strong 12-month performance.

BeOne Medicines lands on the IBD 50 list of elite growth stocks and, on Tuesday, featured as one of the IBD 50 Growth Stocks To Watch. On Wednesday, ONC stock was added to Leaderboard.

Tesla Stock Sells Off As Biggest Supporter Cuts Stake For Four Straight Sessions

Tesla Stock Sells Off As Biggest Supporter Cuts Stake For Four Straight Sessions

Cathie Wood and Ark Invest have cut Tesla (TSLA) stock holdings in four consecutive trading sessions dating back to Friday with the next major catalyst for the stock likely to be if CEO Elon Musk does indeed remove "safety monitors" in its Model Y robotaxis in Austin, Texas, by the end of 2025. TSLA sank on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Wood's ARK Innovation (ARKK) ETF and ARK Next Gen Internet (ARKW) ETF sold a combined 70,474 TSLA shares for an estimated $30.35 million, according to Wood's ETF daily trade disclosures.

The comes after Wood's Ark Invest sold just 789 TSLA shares on Tuesday and cut 5,426 on Monday. Wood began her recent Tesla stock selling streak on Friday, Nov. 7, when she sold 71,38 shares.

As of Thursday, Tesla stock is the top holding in the ARK Innovation ETF, with an 11.96% weight. TSLA also ranks first in the ARK Next Gen Internet ETF with a weight of 9.69%. TSLA is the No. 1 holding across all of Ark's ETFs, at 9.94%.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk's brother, and a Tesla director, Kimbal Musk completed a stock transaction on Nov. 10, gifting 14,785 TSLA shares, according to a regulatory filing late Wednesday. Kimbal Musk has regularly sold his Tesla stock over the years, often near tops.

Wood is a major believer in Musk's vision for Tesla and its focus on autonomous ride hailing. Ark Invest forecasts Tesla stock to hit 2,600 by 2029. The firm has estimated that around 90% of Tesla's enterprise value and earnings will be attributed to the robotaxi business in 2029. Without a robotaxi network and business, Ark Invest wrote in 2024, the TSLA price target would be around 350 per share.

Wood's Ark Invest tends to purchase Tesla stock and other positions amid sell-offs or when they break below key moving averages.

Tesla Stock Performance

TSLA dropped as low as 396.42 intraday before ending Thursday's stock market down 6.6% to 401.99, retreating further below its 50-day moving average and moving to its lowest level since Sept. 12.

Tesla skidded 2% to 430.60 on Wednesday and ended Thursday's market down 12% in November. The stock is in a base with a traditional buy point of 470.75, but is now about 15% from that entry.

Recent investors could consider getting out, as it has triggered the 7%-8% sell rule. Investors who got in around 355-370 could at least consider taking partial profits.

Investors also could view the handle as a separate flat base, according to MarketSurge charts.

Shares briefly topped the 470.75 entry on Nov. 3, but didn't close above that key level.

On Monday, Tesla stock popped 3.7% to 445.23, just retaking the 21-day moving average, after falling 5.9% last week but bouncing off the 50-day line on Friday.

The bulk of Tesla's roughly $1.5 trillion valuation reflects optimism about self-driving, Optimus humanoid robots and more. On Nov. 6, Musk, after shareholders approved his $1 trillion pay package, reiterated his expectations that Austin robotaxis will be able to remove their safety monitors in a month or two.

Investors can also keep tabs on the Leaderboard, the IBD 50 list of top growth stocks and IBD SwingTrader along with the IBD Sector Leaders list.

Tesla stock has a 72 Composite Rating out of a best-possible 99. TSLA also has an 86 Relative Strength Rating and a 46 EPS Rating.

‘Big Short’ investor Michael Burry accuses AI hyperscalers of artificially boosting earnings

‘Big Short’ investor Michael Burry accuses AI hyperscalers of artificially boosting earnings

Michael Burry, the investor made famous by “The Big Short” who recently roiled the market with a tech short bet, is accusing some of America’s largest technology companies of using aggressive accounting to pad their profits from the artificial intelligence boom.

In a post Monday on X, the Scion Asset Management founder alleged that “hyperscalers” — the major cloud and AI infrastructure providers — are understating depreciation expenses by estimating that chips will have a longer life cycle than is realistic.

“Understating depreciation by extending useful life of assets artificially boosts earnings - one of the more common frauds of the modern era,” Burry wrote. “Massively ramping capex through purchase of Nvidia chips/servers on a 2-3 yr product cycle should not result in the extension of useful lives of compute equipment. Yet this is exactly what all the hyperscalers have done.”

Burry estimated that from 2026 through 2028, the accounting maneuver would understate depreciation by about $176 billion, inflating reported earnings across the industry. He singled out Oracle and Meta Platforms, saying their profits could be overstated by roughly 27% and 21%, respectively, by 2028.

CNBC has reached out to Oracle and Meta for comments. Nvidia declined to comment. Burry’s accusation is a serious one, but could be hard to prove because of the leeway companies are given in estimating depreciation. CNBC was not independently able to confirm this practice was being done by the companies.

When paying for a large asset upfront — like semiconductors, servers, etc — a company is then allowed under generally accepted accounting principles, or GAAP, to spread out the cost of that asset as a yearly expense that is based on the company’s estimate of how rapidly that asset depreciates in value. If companies estimate a longer life cycle for the asset, they can then lower the yearly depreciation expense that hits the bottom line.

Burry, who famously bet against subprime mortgages before the 2008 financial crisis, has warned this year that AI enthusiasm resembles the late-1990s tech bubble.

Burry last week revealed seemingly fresh wagers against AI favorites Nvidia and Palantir Technologies. He disclosed put options with a notional value of about $187 million against Nvidia and $912 million against Palantir as of Sept. 30, according to a regulatory filing. The filing didn’t specify the strike prices or expiration dates of the contracts.

The disclosure prompted a sharp reaction from Palantir CEO Alex Karp, who called Burry’s wagers “super weird” and “bats--- crazy.” It’s not clear whether he still holds those positions or whether they were just a hedge.

Shares of Nvidia rebounded nearly 6% on Monday after dropping 7% last week. Palantir saw its shares pop almost 9% on Monday following a 11% sell-off last week. Nvidia was lower again on Tuesday.

Burry said in his X post that “more detail” was coming on Nov. 25 and that readers should “stay tuned.”

Cisco Stock Climbs as Earnings Beat Expectations Amid Strong AI Demand — Barrons.com

1 min read

By Angela Palumbo

Cisco Systems stock rose Wednesday after the networking company reported better-than-expected financials for its latest quarter.

Cisco reported fiscal first-quarter adjusted earnings of $1 a share on revenue of $14.88 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected earnings of 98 cents a share on revenue of $14.78 billion.

Cisco's first-quarter networking revenue — the segment that brings in the most revenue for the company and includes gear used in AI data centers — was $7.77 billion, above expectations of $7.45 billion.

Cisco also provided a strong financial forecast. The company said it expects second-quarter earnings to be between $1.01 and $1.03 a share on revenue between $15 billion and $15.2 billion, above analysts' estimates of 98 cents a share and $14.62 billion.

For the fiscal year, Cisco expects earnings of $4.08 to $4.14 a share on revenue between $60.2 billion and $61 billion. Wall Street has expected fiscal 2026 earnings of $4.04 a share on revenue of $59.64 billion.

Shares of Cisco were up 5.0% in after-hours trading following the report.

The stock has gained 25% this year, outperforming the S&P 500's 16% rise. Bullish Cisco investors have been optimistic the increasing demand from enterprises to invest in AI will lead to continued revenue and earnings acceleration.

Cisco said on Wednesday that AI Infrastructure orders taken from hyperscaler customers totaled $1.3 billion, "reflecting a significant acceleration in growth."

"The widespread demand for our technologies highlights the critical role of secure networking and the value of our portfolio as customers move quickly to unlock the potential of AI," CEO Chuck Robbins said in the earnings release Wednesday.
