Margin of safety - learn how to look up, and importance to learn the concept
Be lazy, be patient! Be so patient! Almost do nothing.
Control the fear - how to face challenge? Buffet told me in 50 years. Fear affects us too.
Margin of safety price - Buy them on sale - Do it then. Do not do it little bit. Load up a damn truck.
When it is raining gold. Load up truck.

Sharesight - reports help me to track my oil stocks
April 25, 2020
It is so interesting for me to learn how I behave under stress in last month. Starting from March 18, 2020, I was so depressed since I worried about my full time job, my Florida rental property, and then stock market hit lowest position in March 18, and I took one sick day to plan a panic sale; after one day off, I changed my plan to stay put, two days rebounce over 10%, I was so happy to see gain of $4000 dollars in my Victoria portfolio. So I decided to purchase Canada oil stocks. It is 29th day to own those stocks. Let me run reports and share the joy to be a happy stock owner.
It is such great experience for me as a share holder. I like to learn how to be a good investor and then I can retire one day in Canada, and also can explore a small town to live, and own a place to live as well.
I just could not believe that Questrade.com charges me $5.00 dollar for each purchase of stock. Ameritrade.com has free commission to purchase stocks. I purchased one share of Expedia and a few shares of Airline stocks as well.
I like to hold the stocks as long as I can.

RealSelf doubles Seattle footprint with new headquarters, plans hiring spree in 2017
Here is the article.
The company raised an early venture funding round of $2 million and says it has been profitable since 2011. RealSelf says its growth comes down to the fact that the $30 billion aesthetics industry is growing and changing rapidly. Technological advances have led to the development of new devices and treatments that offer non-surgical options for a variety of health and beauty issues.
RealSelf did not give a 2016 revenue projection, but the company reported $19.9 million in revenue last year and has seen three-year growth in that area of 333 percent.
After 10 years, RealSelf raises $40M to ‘hit the gas’ and take cosmetic treatment review platform global

Last January, Insight Partners led a $100 million investment round according to a valuation of $1.1 billion for the company that developed a cloud-based business intelligence platform that uses artificial intelligence algorithms to analyze organizational data. The company has raised $200 million to date from investors including Insight Partners, Battery Ventures, and Bessemer Venture Partners. Sisense is estimated to have closed out 2019 with earnings of approximately $100 million.
In May 2019 Sisense purchased Silicon Valley-based data analytics company Periscope Inc., known as Periscope Data. The financial details were not disclosed but one person familiar with the matter who spoke with Calcalist on condition of anonymity said it was a stock deal valued at over $100 million. The purchase grew the number of Sisense’s employees to over 700, 250 of them based out of Israel.

How LendingClub Wants to Make History
Here is the article.
The acquisition is viewed as a landmark purchase because it makes LendingClub the first fintech to buy a bank in order to obtain its banking charter. The move bypasses the more traditional approach of actually applying for a charter, which other fintechs such as Square (NYSE:SQ) have pursued. LendingClub undoubtedly has a long and cumbersome process ahead to receive regulatory approval. But if it does, I think the company has a ton of upside.

John Templeton - less than $1 dollar stock portfolio and world war 2
“To buy when others are despondently selling and to sell when others are euphorically buying takes the greatest courage, but provides the greatest profit” – John Templeton
John Templeton was once named by Money magazine as “arguably the greatest global stock picker of the century.” A fund manager, he profited from the Great Depression by buying 100 shares of each NYSE company that was selling for less than $1 at the time. He later made many times his money back when industry in the US picked up as a result of World War 2.
According to Templeton, if you want to have a better performance than the crowd, you must do things differently from the crowd. The time of maximum pessimism is the best time to buy, he said, while the time of maximum optimism is the best time to sell.

“The time to buy is when there’s blood in the streets” – Baron Rothschild
Baron Rothschild, a member of the Rothschild banking family, is credited with this quote, which has become a credo for contrarian investors. Rothschild made a fortune buying in the panic that followed the Battle of Waterloo.
The idea behind this is that markets are subject to herding behaviour. As such, there will periodically be times when markets are over or undervalued. Contrarian investors try to do the opposite of the crowd, diving in when there is a price drop and holding fire when the market is at its peak.
Holding fire - I have to learn how to hold the fire as a long term investor.
Case study: 2001 Boeing stock purchase
April 25, 2020
I was at work in Trendium full time, and then I purchased some stocks just on Sept. 11, 2020. Recently I reviewed the stocks and then I can tell that I have no clue what to purchase since I purchased all technology stocks.
After the Sept. 11 attacks, the world stopped flying for awhile. Suppose that at this time, you had made an investment inBoeing , one of the world's largest builders of commercial aircraft. Boeing's stock didn't bottom until about a year after the tragedy, but from there, it more than quadrupled in value over the next five years. Clearly, although Sept. 11 soured market sentiment for the airline industry for quite some time, those who did their research and were willing to bet Boeing would survive were well rewarded.
2001 to 2006 Boeing stock - four times more, 2002 bottom and then went up.

TRADING BASIC EDUCATION
Here is the article.
Contrarian investing is similar to value investing because both value and contrarian investors look for stocks whose share price is lower than the intrinsic value of the company. Value investors generally believe that the market overreacts to good and bad news, so they believe that stock price movements in the short term don’t correspond to a company's long-term fundamentals.

Apr.24 -- Billionaire activist investor Carl Icahn discusses investment strategy, his short of the derivatives index CMBX 6, and his refiner CVR Energy's large-scale purchase of oil on Monday. He speaks with Bloomberg's Erik Schatzker on "Bloomberg Markets: The Close."
One of comments:
When people finish quarantine and return to work, they will realise that there is no longer more job opportunities, things are not what they throught, then corporate debts bust and poor Q2 yields will drive forward looking to be adjusted
Interesting guy. Sharp. Creative mind. He needs to do a podcast. I do think he had paid bloomberg to manipulate the CMBX
Look into CMBX, and learn something basics about CMBX.

Why Anthony Scaramucci says not to sell stocks during a pandemic
Here is the link.
CNBC's "Halftime Report" is joined by Anthony Scaramucci of SkyBridge Capital to discuss his outlook for markets amid the coronavirus pandemic. The adage “keep calm and carry on” might, in the end, be the best advice for investors to follow during times of extreme market volatility such as the present. While it might seem counterintuitive to sit back and relax while stocks post swift and steep losses, for investors with longer-term time frames it typically pays to wait it out. Looking at data going back to 1930, Bank of America found that if an investor missed the S&P 500′s 10 best days in each decade, total returns would be just 91%, strikingly below the 14,962% return for investors who held steady throughout the ups and downs. The firm noted this eye-popping statistic while urging investors to “avoid panic selling,” pointing out that “the best days generally follow the worst days for stocks.” It’s nearly impossible to time your investing so that you get out at the right time and then get back in at the exact right time to profit from big comeback rallies.
FED inject 14 trillion dollars into the market - Do not sell out in pandemic. You will regret those sells.

Business plan: 100 share delta airline stocks at price below $26 dollars in my USA IRA account
April 24, 2020
I am a rookie in the stock market and came back from May 2019. I like to make plans for my IRA retirement account. What should I do in order to make better return with low interest rate and also beat SPX in short term like 3 to 5 years. I like to purchase 100 share Delta airline stocks.
I like to think more based on the following highlights.
Introduction
I am a rookie in the stock market and came back from May 2019. I like to make plans for my IRA retirement account. What should I do in order to make better return with low interest rate and also beat SPX in short term like 3 to 5 years. I like to purchase 100 share Delta airline stocks.
Business plan
I like to think more based on the following highlights.
- Take risk, Delta airline may go bankruptcy. Right now, all airlines are distressed. But Delta has best rating based on financial statement.
- I could not learn how to day trading in short time period. I like to be a scholar, act on planning first;
- I do believe that business travel is essential, people love them, specially management teams in every company;
- I do think that it is challenge to attract people back to flights. But I will let airline folks figure out;
- How to time the market? Before any breakout on new drugs, test kits come out? Or SPX another dip? I have to figure out...
- Maybe it is possible Delta airline stock price can go down below $5.00 dollars, then I will purchase 400 shares instead of 100 shares.
- Personally I like to support US economy. 90,000 employees got paycheck from the government, they should work on something, creative and proactive for the company, but I do not see anything through the internet. The whole crew shows less competitive compared to Google and Facebook;
- I do not have other plans for stocks. It is risky for one stock, my Ameritrade already have 1800 stocks. GE, Ford, if I have 100 Delta, then I should get 100 cruiseline.
- I need to focus on investment common mistakes, focus on learning basics. My psychology of investment is not so good, I will think about it at work;
- I am super talent programmer but I am playing with simple stock picking game! I need to have something on paper first.
Exit plan
I do think that it is good for holding long term. Since Canada airline last 10 years brought 10 times return. I do think that Delta may give me 100% return in less than five years.
I will use those fund after 60 year old. I will purchase tickets to fly some place, as a frugal person, I rely on Amazon, Facebook onsite interview for luxury hotel, airline ticket expense in 2018 and in 2019.
I want to go back to my favorite algorithm practice daily. Make a plan, and come back to review it in 2 - 3 days, get some feedbacks.

Top 20 common investment mistakes
Here is the article.
- Expecting too much or using someone else’s expectations
- Not having clear investment goals
- Failing to diversify enough
- Focusing on the wrong kind of performance
- Buying high and selling low
- Trading too much and too often
- Paying too much in fees and commissions
- Focusing too much on taxes
- Not reviewing investments regularly
- Taking too much, too little, or the wrong risk
- Not knowing the true performance of your investments
- Reacting to the media
- Chasing yield
- Trying to be a market timing genius
- Not doing due diligence
- Working with the wrong adviser
- Letting emotions get in the way
- Forgetting about inflation
- Neglecting to start or continue
- Not controlling what you can
My most favorite one:
4. Focusing on the wrong kind of performance
There are two timeframes that are important to keep in mind: the short term and everything else. If you are a long-term investor, speculating on performance in the short term can be a recipe for disaster because it can make you second guess your strategy and motivate short-term portfolio modifications. But looking past nearterm chatter to the factors that drive long-term performance is a worthy undertaking. If you find yourself looking short term, refocus.
5. Buying high and selling low
The fundamental principle of investing is to buy low and sell high, so why do so many investors do the opposite? Instead of rational decision making, many investment decisions are motivated by fear or greed. In many cases, investors buy high in an attempt to maximize short-term returns instead of trying to achieve long-term investment goals. A focus on near-term returns leads to investing in the latest investment craze or fad or investing in the assets or investment strategies that were effective in the near past. Either way, once an investment has become popular and gained the public’s attention, it becomes more difficult to have an edge in determining its value.

Airline Stocks Analysis for Delta, American, United, JetBlue and Southwest. Which airline stocks should you buy? Financial analysis, price targets, analysis valuations, and side by side airline stock comparisons. In the first part of the video I’m going to break down the airline stock financial statements with side by side comparisons to find the strongest companies. In the second part of the video I’m adding something new and I’m going to break down Valuations, Analyst Sentiment, and Price Targets. The airline companies are still trading at 50-80% discounts from their 52 week highs so there is plenty of opportunity in this volatile market! But with volatility comes risk and some of the airlines might have to file bankruptcy. I take a Warren Buffet approach as a value investor and my goal is to see if the stock represents a solid investment opportunity. It is important for me to learn how to analyze the stock using financial data. I do think the video is such good teaching material for me. Without knowledge how to analyze the stock, I am taking risk to speculate.

The TOP 7 Stocks to Buy For 2020 (High Growth)
Here is the link.
In this video, I'm going through 7 high-reward stocks that I will or have been investing in. These stocks are high risk, high reward, meaning that they have come down quite a bit in the last two months due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, this means that they have a lot of upside as well, and you can make HUGE gains. I have a lot of faith in these companies, and I'll share with you my research, analysis, and thoughts about each one. These companies have all been impacted hard, with some of their stocks dropping 80%. Just because a stock drops in price does not mean it is a good buy - in fact, you must be very careful investing in these companies. This is because yes, they dropped for a reason - either a huge hit to their revenues, outlook, or cash flow. I believe these companies can make it through this recession. I've made sure to sort through all the companies that have high earning potential, and I'm sharing them with you in this video. Stocks I'll cover include companies in different industries, such as Carnival Cruise Lines to General Electric (GE).
CCL, GE, Delta airline,
CCL - get loan with interest 11%
GE - service, not product compared to Boeing company
61% revenue from airplane maintenance

CNBC's "Halftime Report" breaks down investment strategies amid the coronavirus pandemic. The economic shock of the coronavirus pandemic has caused unprecedented strife. More than 22 million Americans have lost their jobs, the markets are roiling, and Americans, stressed about all this uncertainty, are left with many unanswered questions. Two of CNBC’s Financial Advisor Council members — Lazetta Rainey Braxton, co-CEO of 2050 Wealth Partners, and Carolyn McClanahan, a certified financial planner and founder of Life Planning Partners — along with Josh Brown, CEO of Ritholtz Wealth Management, listened to viewers and answered their questions on CNBC’s “Markets in Turmoil” Monday night. Here is how these experts responded to viewers’ most pressing concerns.

How do investors determine asset allocation and the level of risk that’s for them?
According to McClanahan, there are two factors that should drive portfolio allocation. The first is, how long do you have before you need to use your money? If you need your money in the near term, meaning that you are approaching retirement age or you recently retired, McClanahan says investors should be consecutive and dial back their risk.
Younger investors who can stomach swings in the market should be more aggressive with their allocations.
Braxton says that now is a good time to figure out your risk tolerance. Investors have had a wide range of reactions to this market. Some might be indifferent to the roller coaster right now, while others are fearful they won’t be able to get through their retirement years. Braxton said to use your reactions as a way to gauge your tolerance and then couple that with your timeline and goals.
Delta airline stock - update on bailout
April 23, 2020
Here is the article.
Delta's CEO said this month that the airline is burning $60 million in cash each day, and demand has plummeted 95%.
Delta expects to receive $5.4 billion, including a 10-year loan of $1.6 billion, and will give the government warrants to buy about 1% of Delta stock at $24.39 per share in the next five years. Those warrants could be lucrative if Delta's stock rallies to the $60 it traded at in January.

Victoria TFSA portfolio - April 22, 2020
April 22, 2020
It is an exciting day since S & P 500 index went up 2.8%. I like to figure out how I can realize those gains, since it is hard to make money these days, a lot of layoffs around the world since coronavirus.
Let me review S & P 500 index first.
Balances
Since I have to prepare the market will test another low in next few months, recently I sold VFV and VAB to keep them in cash.
One of ideas is to time the market buy low and sell high on VAB.TO ETF. I do believe that $50 dollar/ month dividend can not beat price fluctuation if the swing is bigger than $1/ share, my gain can be $1000 dollars since I can purchase 1000 share.
The profit for the day is $670. I am happy even though it is unrealized. I just train my muscle memory one more time, happy for virtual gain.

It is an exciting day since S & P 500 index went up 2.8%. I like to figure out how I can realize those gains, since it is hard to make money these days, a lot of layoffs around the world since coronavirus.
20 minutes update
Let me review S & P 500 index first.
Balances
Since I have to prepare the market will test another low in next few months, recently I sold VFV and VAB to keep them in cash.
One of ideas is to time the market buy low and sell high on VAB.TO ETF. I do believe that $50 dollar/ month dividend can not beat price fluctuation if the swing is bigger than $1/ share, my gain can be $1000 dollars since I can purchase 1000 share.
The profit for the day is $670. I am happy even though it is unrealized. I just train my muscle memory one more time, happy for virtual gain.
Discrete math - Find minimum string
April 22, 2020
Problem statement:
Let X be a set of strings, each of length at least 6, using letters A, B, C, ..., Z (letters may be repeated). What is the least number of elements that X must contain in order to guarantee that two elements of X have the same fourth letter and the same sixth letter? For example, the settings PIGEON and CAVERN both have fourth letter E and six letter N.
How to solve the problem?
It is not an easy problem. Let me walk through the simple problem first, how to solve one by one, and then work on specific case 4th and 6th letter.
Question 1: Any number at least six letters - minimum number of elements; all digits should be same to treat as duplicate.
It is easy to figure out, each digit has 26 choices, so the first six digits have 26^6 options. The answer should be 26^6 + 1 = 308915777
Question 2: Any number at least six letters - minimum number of elements, fourth letter should be different.
Answer:
4th digit
A
B
...
Z
The answer should be 26 + 1 = 27, for each 4th digit, all other 5 digits should have one option.
Since AAAAAA is duplicate as BBBABB
4 4
Question 3: Any number at least six letters - 4th letter and 6th letter should not duplicate.
Let us brute force all possible options for 4th and 6th two digits.
Let us put together a table:
Case 1:
4th 6th
A A
A B
A C
...
A Z
Case 2:
4th 6th
B A
B B
B C
...
B Z
...
Case 26
4th 6th
Z A
Z B
...
Z Z
For 4th and 6th digits have 26 * 26 option, for each option of the above 26 * 26, there is only one option for 1th, 2th, 3th, 5th digit. Otherwise, we count them as duplicate.
For example, 4th A, 6th A, we can only have one word, any letter for 1th, 2th, 3th, 5th, for keeping one option, AAAAAA and BBBABA would be duplicate since first word 4th and 6th letter are both 'AA'.
Based on the above analysis, we argue that least number to contain duplicate 4th and 6th digits should be 26^2 + 1 = 677.
Any feedback. It is tough for me to warm up the algorithm.
