Long term investor - new school from last three months

April 17, 2020

Introduction

It is so much stress to go over last three month since coronavirus and stock market swings. I also learned a few things, now I can tell what to do as a long term investor.

10 lessons I learn

  1. When the bond price goes up more than 5%, sell all of them and take profit; later purchase back when price goes down. VAB is an example.
  2. If it is 10 year bull market, then do it treat it as the first year bull market. Even though I started again in 9th year bull market. 15% in 8 month on SPX, take all profit, sell all $10,000 VFV, and then wait for next crash.
  3. Do not panic sell when SPX drops 38%.  Do not buy high and sell low.
  4. If a day or three day or a week SPX goes up more than 3%, then I should think about bet on it, do a short term investment; try to make profit.
  5. Study hard before bear market hits. Knowledge is power.
  6. Think about investing like a cashier job in restaurant, hourly paid job. $200 or $300 is good profit to work for.
  7. Try to aim big target. There are so many opportunities when market swings.
