That is insane for a townhouse. I live in a 2200 sqft 2 story house that I bought new in 2014 for 600k - including developing the basement suite. Backing onto a lake in the lake district north edm. I have a private suite in the basement with separate entrance that rents for $900/month. My net cost is about $2300 a month. No condo fees. There are options out there.
