QCOM stock | AI chips

U.S. Stocks Move | Qualcomm surges over 13% after hours, set to supply latest AI chips to Microsoft and Meta

Gelonghui, June 25 | Qualcomm (QCOM.US) surged more than 13% in after-hours trading to $223.15. On Wednesday, Qualcomm disclosed that Microsoft and Meta will adopt its new AI chip solution; the company will also develop customized chips for two additional unnamed hyperscale cloud providers. The global leader in smartphone chips held an investor briefing to officially unveil its data center AI chip strategy. Qualcomm stated that Microsoft will utilize its new High Bandwidth Compute (HBC) chip architecture, which leverages cost-effective, standard memory commonly used in smartphones and laptops—rather than NVIDIA’s expensive HBM high-bandwidth memory or Cerebras’ static SRAM—delivering a significant cost advantage. Meta, meanwhile, will deploy Qualcomm’s proprietary CPU designed specifically for AI data centers, the Dragonfly C1000.
