Case study: Open a checking account in Scotia bank

May 18, 2019

Introduction

It is my personal finance research. I like to write down my experience and share how good Canada is as a country to help me and my nephew as a new immigrant.

Case study

My nephew is a 25 years old, last three years not working, a young Chinese with university degree computer science. He decided to land in Canada as a permanent resident, but he only stayed less than one week.

I like to open a checking account for him. Since he did not bring any money to Canada. He rushed last day to take Air Canada flight to Vancouver. I talked to the teller in Scotia bank, and there is a teller who is a Chinese speaking clerk. She helped us to get an appointment 3:30 PM otherwise it takes a long time to book the appointment.

Things I learn

I had chance to meet Juan Diego Gallego who opened the account for my nephew. And also he shared his experience on investing as well.

I also learned from Scotiabank that they are willing to help a new immigrant and impress me very well with nice and great attitude to serve me and my nephew as customers.
