Stock investor: How to learn properly from my mistakes?

Introduction

As an investor, I started to invest individual stocks from March 27, 2020. I learned the first mistake to purchase $13,000 at SPX 3300, and a lot of stocks I owned went down over 20 to 40% after my purchase on June 8, 2020. I know that how danger it is to purchase stocks. 

My plan 

I was afraid to invest using my TFSA account with my savings last 10 years. I have to be very responsible. One of ideas is to invest into a few stocks to get 10% rebound, I thought about Canada airline stock, and I think that it is much safe since it is not inflated as other stocks like TSLA, SHOP. 

But I am a beginner, I do not know how to calculate the risk properly.
