Four more books to read

Here is the link.

There are 4 other books that are more specific to saving and investing.
"Wealthing like Rabbits" - It was very instructive on the power of compound interest and it is certainly a recommend read for people prone to spending more than they make or moving towards buying real estate.
"Millionaire Teacher" has a lot of good information about the value of living within your means, paying yourself first and low cost index investing. If after reading it you want step by step instructions to create a DIY portfolio I would suggest either:
"Money Sense Guide to the Perfect Portfolio" - was very well laid out and it provided some quite detailed explanations about whys and hows of low cost index investing. It is currently only available as a $5 ebook but it short and graphic so it does suit that format. The specific model portfolios listed on the last couple of pages are updated regularly on the Canadian Couch Potato website. Or,
"The Value of Simple" - quickly discusses the value of using low cost index funds then introduces the building blocks of a financial plan and investment portfolios. It details the steps to open and maintain three kinds of investing accounts.
