What do software engineers who earn 350k+ per year do differently? - Dean Jackson

Here is the answer. I like to read again the answer, I do believe that it is so popular post with over thousand upvotes.

First of all, it is roughly 10 times of my salary at work. If I can help a business working on 8 million Canadian dollar revenue, this principle engineer is working on 80 million dollar project at least. Let us assume that it is 100 million dollar project.

Since I only help to generate the revenue, the software is not a final product. So it should count as 10% of revenue. So 350K+ per year engineer works on a project 10 million dollar project and he is responsible to help the project success.
