Rookie investor common mistakes

April 19, 2019

Introduction

I make so many mistakes from 1996 to 2019. It is over 20 years. I like to write mistakes I make and also make a table to map them to common mistakes. I like to demonstrate what I have learned last six month. It will be helpful for me to stay prepared for future investment.

Lessons learned

First, I should not sell all mutual funds in my par siva 401 K to money market fund in 2008;
Second, I should think about when to go back to the market, stay on the course; Purchase those funds back;
I did not learn what is index fund, what other basic things related to finance and stock market;
Third, I did not even spend time to look into all product features of Charles Schwab from 2010 to 2019 March;
Fourth, I did not download and save each year balance. I did not take any risk to try any purchase in my 401K account.

Ideas

At least I should give myself $2000 to $3000 to put into stocks, I should allow myself to pick up stocks and learn from mistakes.

At least I should read and learn from all funds in my Par Siva 401K fund. I should look into those common mistakes as a new investor.
